Last month someone hacked into our sissy's Facebook account and sent out emails to all of her friends stating she was stranded overseas and needed to have money wired to her. Thankfully, most of her friends are savvy and started calling her cell phone to see how she was doing and she was fine - sitting in Hennesey's at Dana Point, CA having breakfast.
This morning, we saw on the TODAY SHOW that this is becoming more common among social networking sights. Should anyone contact you asking for money, you need to verify the request before sending them your hard earned savings.
Yes, we know this is a pet blog, but pet owners need to be careful too. Sometimes the world is not truthful, be careful out there.

Hi Lynn,
Thank-you for your support!!! Yes the computer is not always fun!!
There are so many steps to uploading pictures and I do not do it everyday so I cann't seem to get it down. We did not grow up with all this digital stuff!!!!!!!

Thank you for woofing out the scarier parts of social internetting. Awful - we put those emails into spam before opening - but I never heard of the FB probs. Uch.

Mom is pretty stingy about her green papers. (And she sends smart-aleck-y responses to emails asking for money, because she knows that any of her friends/family that really need help will call her.) But thanks for the warning!

Dana Point, CA! That's near us.
Thank you for reminding us to be uber-cyber careful. Drag to think they are getting into our doggie blogs and Facebooks!!!!! (My husband's PayPal account was hacked into a while back. A real headache to clear up, but PayPal ended up paying him back for all money lost).
Hugs and snaggle-tooth kisses,
Sierra Rose and her mom

Always good to remind people not to believe everything they see and read and hear. That must have been very scary for your sissy.

This actually happened to my friend Devan yesterday, but they hacked into his hotmail account and sent emails to his contacts saying he had been mugged in London and needed money.
It's sad that we've come to having to think about this stuff... but it's true. Thank you for reminding us with this post.
Catching up,
Jake and Fergi xxo
