Some of you have asked
for a picture of Ivy.
She is almost impossible
to catch sitting still.
And then when we catch her,
as soon as she sees the camera,
she moves.

Mom took this photo
through our laundry room window -
we know it's not the best,
but it lets you see how big
she's getting.
She'll soon be a year old!!

A DOG'S PLEA by Beth Norman Harris

Treat me kindly,
my beloved friend,
for no heart in all the world
is more grateful for the kindness
than the loving heart of me.

Do no break my spirit with a stick,
for though I might lick your hand between blows,
your patience and understanding
will quickly teach me the things
you would have me learn.

Speak to me often,
for your voice is the world's sweetest music,
as you must know by the fierce wagging of my tail
when the sound of your footstep falls
upon my waiting ear.

Please take me inside when it is cold and wet,
for I am a domesticated animal,
no longer accustomed to bitter elements.
I ask no greater glory than the privilege
of sitting at your feet
beside the hearth.

Keep my pan filled with fresh water,
for I cannot tell you when I suffer thirst.

Feed me clean food that I might stay well,
to romp and play and do your bidding,
to walk by your side and stand ready,
willing and able to protect you with my life,
should your life be in danger.

And my friend, when I am very old,
and I no longer enjoy good health,
hearing and sight,
do not make heroic efforts to keep me going.
I am not having any fun.

Please see that my trusting life is taken gently.
I shall leave this Earth knowing
with the last breath I draw that my fate
was always safest in your hands.

In memory of our
sweet Java Bean
and all of our furieds
who have crossed
The Rainbow Bridge.

When we received an email asking us
if we would like to try Orijen dog food,
of course our answer was a resounding

Like all Scotties,
we are very curious,
but when we found out that
Orijen was produced
using only the freshest ingredients,
we knew it had to be great!!

We got the Orijen Regional Red.
When our Dad read the ingredients,

he said,
"that's good enough for humans"
so it must be good enough for Scotties!!

we give you
"4 paws up"
for freshness, taste and content!!

We hope to see it in our dinner plate again.

PS - One of the things we like about Orijen
is that it is good for dogs of all sizes through all stages of life.

On Monday morning,
we woke up to 8 3/4 inches of snow -
almost as tall as a Scottie!!

We love these days -
Dad gets to stay home from work
and we get to watch TV and movies
and Mom usually fixes us some popcorn.

Yesterday was a bit different -
Dad says "some dog" stinks -
we all wanted to hide
because we didn't want to be "some dog".

Mom soon figured out that "some dog"
was Piper.
So Piper got to get on the grooming table,
get combed out, stripped some, bathed,
dried with the hair dryer and then stripped
a bit more.

He's starting to look like his old self -
you see,
last summer when it was so hot,
Mom grabbed Piper up
and clipped him and that was a bad mistake.
He lost all of his hard coat
so now she is working to get it back.
She thinks by Fall he'll be back "in coat".

And the rest of us
got to watch Gunsmoke
and then a movie -
and we all got popcorn
during the movie.
But you know
now that Piper smells so good,
pretty soon,
"some other dog" will stink.
Please let it be Ivy!!

When our computer was down,
we received an invitation
to order $50.00 in merchandise
from Mr Chewy.

As soon as we were
up and running again,
we contacted them
let them know we were interested.

Since we live
in an area of the United States
that has a limited selection
of stores to shop for pets,
we were excited to see
that Mr. Chewy
offers more than 70 brands
of high quality pet food.

Your favorite food can be delivered
right to your front door!!
And best of all -
with a $49.00 order,
Mr. Chewy offers FREE shipping -
and is it ever quick!

Check out all of this loot!!
Mr. Chewy's prices on food
are the same or less
than most stores
and the selection is far better!!

We all got to get something special,
just for ourself - even Ivy,
plus we got some treats to share!!
Our Mom says we'll definitely be repeat customers
at Mr Chewy's.

When you make your purchases
at Mrchewy.com
enter the code ROCK9760
for a 10% discount
off your first order.
And they will also donate $10.00

We know that many of your peeps
use retractable dog leashes
like the ones pictures above.

Today, we received the following email
from our local humane society
and wanted to pass it on to you so
that you could warn your peeps
to be careful - we'd hate for something
like this to happen to one of you.

I want to share with all of you a story of what happened to a couple’s dog while on the retractable leash. This couple was very responsible when it came to their little Rat Terrier named Fifi. Fifi went on 2 or 3 walks a day, slept with her owners every night, ate expensive food, and played with her mommy all day long while daddy worked. Fifi went everywhere with her mommy and daddy, including vacation! One drizzly afternoon, Fifi and her mommy went for their usual walk. They decided to get their mail out of the mailbox on the way back. While holding the mail and umbrella in one hand and the leash in the other, Fifi decided to take off running. Mommy tried to retract the leash to get her back because she headed for the street, however the button seemed to get stuck and she was too late. Fifi ran underneath the wheel of an oncoming school bus and was killed instantly. Needless to say that retractable leash went into the trash and this couple will never use one again. I wanted to pass this story on to you in case any of you currently use one. For those of you in rescue, I hope for the sake of your dogs that you will educate your adopters on the potential danger this leash can be. This freak accident would not have happened with a regular leash. This story has certainly been an eye opener for me, and I hope it will be for all of you as well!
