COWLICKS - THE COUNTDOWN - 90th POST

When one thinks of "cowlicks"
the first thing that comes to mind
(to a certain generation)
is Alfalfa.

Mom always thinks of Piper
because he has a cowlick
all of the time,
unless he has just been groomed,
which is rarely the case.

Or how Java
and our cattle
have a mutual admiration
for each other.
(not actual photo of Java and our cows)

We rarely think that a cow
will get in our yard

and do this
to our car!!

Keep sticking out those tongues
and showing them to us.

XOXO

STCA and THANKS TO ALL WHO HAVE VISITED

We are thrilled at the interest in the blog world of our new contest. We have enjoyed getting to meet so many new furriends. We hope that more dogs, kitties and hammies will find out and jump on the bandwagon. Your pictures are marvelous and our Mom is working to get them together in a post - it might take two or three, but we'll get them all. Some of you have asked when it will be over - we have no way of knowing, but it will run for about 2 weeks - it will be over when we hit our 100th post and the winner will be announced that day. We will leave reminders as we come close to it.

Mom and Dad are both prospective members of the Scottish Terrier Club of Western Virginia and we had a meeting on Saturday. Carrleigh and Lilly got to go.

Carrleigh is the best rider.
She gets hooked in her seatbelt harness
and just lies down for a nap.

Lilly likes to ride in the front seat
so she had her leash hooked
in Mom's seatbelt and sat on Mom's lap the whole way.
See how enthused she is!!
Unfortunately we didn't get to really sniff any other Scotties. We were supposed to have an obedience class but it was too hot, so we had to stay in an air conditioned run. We were a little nervous because we had never been around that many doggies before. Were we really glad when we saw Mom coming with our leashes to take us home!!

But on the way home we got to have a Fig Newton - you should try one sometime - they are so delicious. We ate them so quickly that Mom couldn't get a picture of us.

Have a Magnificent Monday and don't forget to "stick out your tongue" and post your pictures.

XOXO

TRUE COLOURS THURSDAY - MAROON

Good Morning,

And welcome to TRUE COLOURS THURSDAY and today's color is MAROON. Our host for this event is Blue and should you wish to play along, go over to her blog and inform her and your are in - it's that easy. Next week's color is LEMON.

When Mom and Dad were away this past weekend,
they went to the little town of Dillsboro, NC
for lunch on Sunday.
While the
y were there,
the maroon Great Smoky Mountain Railroad train
came through - now they are thinking
about a trip up there to ride the train
this fall when the leaves are at their peak.

Most of you know that Virginia Tech
is right down the road from us.
The maroon and orange Hokie bird is their mascot.
Their head football coach,
Frank Beamer is from our county.

When Mom was a little girl (spoiled rotten)
her Dad didn't want her to have to walk
to the school bus
since our drive way is .6 mile long.
We know you Europeans are laughing at this.
But to tell the truth,
it's uphill all the way.
So he got our Granny a
1949 Maroon Dodge Coupe
to haul Mom back and forth to the bus.
That car took them on a lot of adventures.
This is not the car he got for them,
but it is the same style.

Have a fabulous Thursday and enjoy our colorful world,

XOXO

Lilly, Piper, Carrleigh and Java

PS - Our Mom has always thought
she would like to have
a pair of dark red (maroon) cowboy boots - hehe!!

IT'S WHEELY WEDNESDAY

Good Morning All,

And welcome to Wheely Wednesday. First we think we might better explain about the "cow situation". Mom and Dad left to go on thei
r trip with friends (who picked the "no dog" place) on Saturday morning. Our dogsitter, Miss Donna, came to check on us that afternoon and then again in the evening. When she came for the evening check, there was a cow in the yard and the gate was open. We didn't think too much about it because our friend, Freddie, helps us check on the cows and we thought he might have forgotten to close the gate. Donna closed it. When she came back Sunday morning and afternoon, all was well, but when she came back on Sunday evening, there were 12 cattle in the yard and the gate was open again. This really concerned Mom and Dad so they decided to cut the trip short and come home. It would devastate them if someone broke into our house and hurt or stole one of us.

Mom, Dad and their friends did get
to spend one day antiquing though.
The first place they went to was called
School House Antiques.
It is a huge old school house that
is full of wonderful antiques.
When they got there,
it was still closed.

In a few minutes,
a nice man opened the door
and they went in.
The first thing Mom saw
was this big wheelie.
It was as big as a
full grown Scottie!!
She thought it would be
nice to push it around for a tour.
(but of course she couldn't do that)
Check out this lovely pillow!

They saw a myriad of items
and even a dog who slightly resembled Tank
followed Mom around.

There were several Airedale figurines,
but this was Mom's favorite
because it looks so regal

And this is one of the pieces
that came home to us.
Even though it's a tie rack,
we think it will end up in the kitchen.
Have a wonderful Wednesday.

XOXO,
Lilly, Piper, Carrleigh and Java

MOM AND DAD ARE BACK!!!!

Mom and Dad are back.
Their trip got cut short by a "cow" situation
back here at the farm.
But we were thrilled to see them
walk back in the door 2 days early.

However we are a little concerned
about the place they stayed.
Can you believe this was on the front door???

And they could see this
from the dinin
g room window?

And this
was outside begging for breakfast?

We're glad they got home before they got lured to "the other side".

Have a Terrific Tuesday,
XOXO

SOMETHING IS UP AT OUR HOUSE

We always get excited
when we see the suitcases come out.
It means someone
is going on a trip (or not!!)
So far
we haven't
seen any tr
aveling crates
added to the stack

Mom has been
on the telephone
with Miss Donna a lot lately.
We heard her tell Miss Donna
to not let Carrleigh
eat anyone's leftovers.
And that our food bins
would be marked.

And we heard her tell Miss Vicki
that she needed to get away
and go junking in some
antique malls.
It's a good thing
she bought that big
box of treats last week
or we'd be worried
about our treat money.

Do you think the peeps
are slipping away for a trip or something?
Who will turn on the computer
so we can paw our blog?
We will have to wait until Mom gets back
to let you know what's going on.

Until we paw again,
XOXO
Lilly, Piper, Carrleigh and Java

TRUE COLOURS THURSDAY - BLACK & TAN

Good Morning,

And welcome to True Colors Thursday. Today's colors are Black and Tan in honor of our good bloggy buddies, Maggie and Mitch. If you've never played along before, you are invited to do so. Just go over to Blue's Blog and let her know you wish to play along and then you're in!! It's that easy.

When we first saw the colors, we thought we just might have to snag a few pictures of our "dale" and "welshie" buddies for our post today, but we did come up with a few.

This first picture
is in honor of our sister, Kat.
She has wanted a rottweiler puppy
for years.
But she lives in a
"pet-free" apartment.

When Mom was looking
for a picture of a traditional
"Black and Tan",
she found this.
She doesn't know if
it's a joke or not!!

Our Great-uncle Jim,
who was Mom's dog mentor
raised champion beagles.
This 'black and tan'
picture is in his memory.

And here's Mom's
"Black and Tan".
On St. Paddy's Day
you might find her
indulging in one of these.

Of course no post is really complete
without a picture of us.
If you put us all together,
we might qualify for
black and tan.
(we qualify for a good grooming,
which we think is coming today!)

Have a Terrific Thursday,
XOXO
