WE'RE PATIENTLY WAITING

We've had a little problem
at our house
for a couple of days.

It seems that the
old treat jar
has run a bit empty
and the tall person
who can drive
has got a bit lazy.

She put some of our
kibble in an old treat bag
and has been trying
to convince us that it's
a new type of treat!!

Do I look like I
hit the floor of the whelping box
just yesterday??
Who does she think
she is fooling?
Well, truthfully,
it has been working
rather well with Ivy,
but she's just a youngster
and very eager to please.

Mom still doesn't want
to go to town today
so she found a recipe
that a friend recommended
and made us some homemade treats.

It's smelling pretty scrumptious
at our house
but now she says
they have to cool
before we can taste them.
And then she'll give us the old tale
about how big they are so
she'll have to break them in half....

Some Moms...

Just in case your Mom would
like to try the recipe,
here it is.

Pumpkin Peanut Butter Dog Cookies

1 cup pure pumpkin
2 eggs
3 heaping tablespoons of peanut butter
2 1/2 cups wheat flour
3/4 cup rolled oats
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1/2 cup ground flax seed

Mix dry ingredients (flour, oats, cinnamon and flax seed) together. Stir in peanut butter. Beat eggs into pumpkin, then mix pumpkin mixture into dry mixture. Knead together into ball in bowl and roll in cellophane. Refrigerate for an hour. Roll out and cut into shapes. Bake in 350 degree oven for approximately 35 minutes. Cool and enjoy.

Unfortunately we don't have any pictures
of Baby Carrleigh -
she was an adult
when she came
to live with us.

SPRING IS IN THE AIR!!

Every year Mom is happy
to see her daffodils bloom
because they are one of the
first signs of Spring -
this year they almost lost their bloom
before we got a picture of them.

The deer are out grazing,
morning and evening
and sometimes during the day.
Soon, we will see their new velvet antlers
and their little babies.

Calves are already being born
on Rocky Creek Farm.
"Carrleigh" our Charolais doesn't like us,
but if you look closely,
you can see a little calf behind her -
it is black with a white face.

Silly Lilly - what's she doing?
Roaching in the road!!

Our Japanese Fan Bush
is starting to bud
and will bloom
all Summer long.

We even have what Mom calls
"wild hyacinths"
in our pen.
We think Ruairi
must have kept them
mowed down before.
Or maybe they weren't there.


And just like every where else,

there is a handsome young fellow
looking out for a pretty lass.

But Mom has cautioned us
that it could still snow -
She says it snowed 18 inches
on April 28, 1978.
She remembers the date
because that's the year
our human brother was born.

IT'S OUR THIRD BLOGIVERSARY!!

This morning we've looked back
through our pictures
and decided to take you
on a little trip
down memory lane.

Angel Maggie and Mitch
were our first ever blogging buddies
and introduced us to the blogging world.
They were great encouragers
and without them,
we would have never tried to blog.

We did a lot of
True Colour Thursday Blogpost -
it was our first weekly post
and we really enjoyed it.
Some weeks it was really a challenge.

You might remember
that Piper was
"incarcerated".

And then he escaped as
"Piper Villa".

We all, especially Lilly,
love to travel.
Sometimes Mom and Dad
sneak off without us.

We're always happy to be nurses
and many times
Mom has needed us.

When we've been sad or lonely,
you've always been there to
cheer us up with a kind word or deed.

Through these three years,
not only have we lost our Java,
but many others too countless to name -
Cowboy, Digby, Max, Maggie.......
They still live in our hearts.

And can you believe
that we have had
22 sweet puppies!!

We have exchanged
so many wonderful gifts
with such thoughtful friends.

You have all got to meet
our Sissy and enjoy her adventures.

We have been honored
to place puppies in some of
your wonderful homes.

Bluebirds come

and
Bluebirds go

But we love it when our friends
come for a visit,
whether it is a virtual visit
on our blog
or a real visit on
Rocky Creek Farm.

...WELL....ALMOST.....

Some of you have asked
for a picture of Ivy.
She is almost impossible
to catch sitting still.
And then when we catch her,
as soon as she sees the camera,
she moves.

Mom took this photo
through our laundry room window -
we know it's not the best,
but it lets you see how big
she's getting.
She'll soon be a year old!!

A DOG'S PLEA by Beth Norman Harris

Treat me kindly,
my beloved friend,
for no heart in all the world
is more grateful for the kindness
than the loving heart of me.

Do no break my spirit with a stick,
for though I might lick your hand between blows,
your patience and understanding
will quickly teach me the things
you would have me learn.


Speak to me often,
for your voice is the world's sweetest music,
as you must know by the fierce wagging of my tail
when the sound of your footstep falls
upon my waiting ear.

Please take me inside when it is cold and wet,
for I am a domesticated animal,
no longer accustomed to bitter elements.
I ask no greater glory than the privilege
of sitting at your feet
beside the hearth.

Keep my pan filled with fresh water,
for I cannot tell you when I suffer thirst.

Feed me clean food that I might stay well,
to romp and play and do your bidding,
to walk by your side and stand ready,
willing and able to protect you with my life,
should your life be in danger.

And my friend, when I am very old,
and I no longer enjoy good health,
hearing and sight,
do not make heroic efforts to keep me going.
I am not having any fun.

Please see that my trusting life is taken gently.
I shall leave this Earth knowing
with the last breath I draw that my fate
was always safest in your hands.

HAVE YOU TRIED ORIJEN FOOD?

When we received an email asking us
if we would like to try Orijen dog food,
of course our answer was a resounding
"ARRROOO"

Like all Scotties,
we are very curious,
but when we found out that

he said,
