Some of you have asked
when the puppies will start growing beards
and begin to look like Scotties.
That really doesn't start to happen
until after they leave us
and go to their furrever homes.
Maddie (Lilly's firstborn) at 8 1/2 weeks old.
This is what they will look like
when they leave us.
Mom tried to document
age appropriate Scottie looks
with Lilly as she grew -
so here goes.

This is Lilly at about 10 weeks -
you can see she already has the
Scottie ears, but no ear tufts or beard yet.

Here at 8 months old,
she is starting to look
like a proper Scottie;
Well she would have if she
had a proper groomer.
Grooming Lilly was Mom's first ever
attempt at grooming a dog -
she had driven Java
to the groomers before,
but that's about as close
as she had come to grooming a dog.

as she had come to grooming a dog.
And here she is at 1 year old.
And she would have had
longer eyebrows and a longer beard,
but there was a little grooming accident
where Lilly zigged and Mom zagged
and OPPS! - there goes an eyebrow,
so everything else had to be trimmed up
to match it.
So you can see,
the puppies probably won't really
look like Scotties
until after they leave us,
but we will keep you pupdated
as their new Moms and Dads
send us pictures.
But we still have
6 more weeks before they start going-
so we'll enjoy them
and love on them
as much as we can now.
Dad bought a flip camcorder this past summer
and Mom is trying to learn to use it.
Because of our bandwidth allowance,
we can only upload short clips
so here's a bit of cuteness from this morning.

It looks like a little bee hive with them all squirming around. What fun. Do you spend all your time with a puppy in hand like I did? Are you keeping one? Have you decided on which one?
Awwwww...such super-duper, really cool, darling, adorable, snuggly, cute, small, loveable, sweet, and snazzi puppies!!!
Their puppy sounds just melt your heart!!!

Thank you for the step by step breakdown on a Scottie's development. As for the Flip Cam, it's the easiest camera to use. We're in love with ours. Our entire youbute channel was done with a flipcam. Mago once suggested I upload to youtube first and it helped me out tremendously. BTW your video wouldn't play.
Twink!
Thank you for posting all these photos! We were wondering the same thing, but never got around to asking about it!!
They are so cute at all ages!

That grooming stuff looks like an awful lot of fussing around to me! Makes me SO glad for my short, fine, low-maintenance furs!! Those puppies are getting around! They are still sort of in the stage that reminds mom of little potatoes with legs!

Wait, did you say when they leave you and go to their furrever home? You mean you're not keeping them? Allll of them... lol!

That was most helpful. It does confuse the Mango when doggies do not look proper until they are older. I, of course, was ever my most handsome self from day one, but it did take a while to get my full jowels.
Looking forward to watching those snooters get longer and grow little beardies.
Slobbers,
mango
It's so neat to see how Lilly changed from a puppy to a proper Scottie! And I agree, beard growing is truly hard work!! (especially when groomers keep lopping it off!)
Love,
Janie
Hello there ... the puppies are SO cute ... :) Are all of the female Wheatens spoken for? I'm watching from a distance, but would so love to have a friend for Maizie ... :)
I love the rear shot. Of course, Scotties are cute from any angle!
This is very interesting and informative about this breed of cuteness. I'm in love w/ them, if I didn't already have two here, I would at some point be wanting a Scottie. But I'm not sure if one would be suited in our environment. You said they are very active and price wise I don't know If I ever could afford one. Email me sometime when u have time. Thanks,
hugs for the wee pups and big pups too!
Those little squeak toy sounds sure got the attention of two napping wire fox terriers! Heheheheh! Perked our heads right up, they did!
What a wonderful chronology of pictures of a maturing Scottie! We've been able to witness it with our neighbor Nessie ... but how wonderful to have photos to show the world!
Hey! As we paw this out, our Girl's bloggie icon is to the right of the comment box. We must get her to blog again. She got some AMAZING photos of a hike she and her buddies took the other day (without us! imagine! and she had a WONDERFUL time!)
Hope all is well.
Love

We too know all too well about the "accidents" in grooming.
Loved the movie...seeing those little squirming pups makes us want one...Oh wait we do have one...BOL
Enjoy them while you can and good luck!
