A MEMORIAL DAY TRIBUTE

Today we pause
to lift a prayer of thanks
to God
for our veterans
and all of our
active duty military
and reservist.
This is a flag that once
draped an unknown (to us) soldier's coffin.
It came into Mom's hands
when Dad purchased a trunk
at an auction.
We thank this unknown person
for their selfless contribution
during WWII
to maintain our freedom.

We feel so fortunate to have
our Dad and his brothers
with us today.
Our Dad (the first one)
was a career Marine
during Viet Nam,
Dessert Storm
and Somolia.
Our Uncle Donnie (the second one)
was a career soldier
during Viet Nam.
Our Uncle Joe (the third one)
was a career Army Officer
during Viet Nam.
Our Uncle Scott (the 4th one)
served in Germany during
the Viet Nam War.

Of course the beautiful lady
on the front row is our Granny,
She lived during WWII
and awaited the return of our
Grandpa (the man in the orange shirt)
The man in the middle
is one of our dear friends
who received a
Purple Heart during WWII.
The man standing up is
a cousin who served
during WWII.
Our first known veteran who served on American soil, was our Mom's great, great, great, great Grandfather, who was a Revolutionary War Veteran. Our friends and relatives have always known that "freedom is not free" and have stepped forward in patriotism when our country needed them.

Today we want to thank all of the people who have stood tall in defense of their country. Not only that, we wish to remember the wives, children, girlfriends, mothers, husbands, fathers and loved ones who stayed at home and prayed for their safety.

Blessings to all of you on this Memorial Day,
XOXO
Lilly, Piper, Carrleigh, Java and their huMom, Lynn

God bless them all.Our stories are quite similar too. We have a long family history of military service and my husband is retired Air Force. I am prior Air Force too and have the utmost respect for our military. Thanks for your tribute.

I also send out thanks to all who have served and those who are still serving. My son, had two deployments in Iraq, so I as a mother, am truly thankful, for all, and finally the safe return of my son. Those were nerve-"wrecking" years with a abundance of prayers.
