WHERE THEY ARE NOW - PUPDATE

We thought you would like to see
how the puppies are growing -
these are pictures that we have received
from their parents during the
month of May -
we are still trying to keep them in order
and if you want to compare,
check out the original pictures.

Here are
Sir Bentley
&
Sir Dugan -
puppies 1 & 3.
They live with Robin and Moe
in Canada.
This is their "who me??" look.
Their Mom says,
"they are full of beans".

Puppy #2, Bailey,
lives with his big brother, Mackie,
in Virginia.
And guess what -
he's caught some animals this Spring -
bird feathers are impossible to digest.

Puppy #4, Murphy,
lives in Arizona.
His Dad says "he's a real chick-magnet".

Puppy #5
is our own
"red king" -
Mr. Ruairi.
This picture was made this morning.

We don't have a recent picture
of puppy #6 - Scarlet.

Puppy #7 is
"our little Snaz" -
Finleigh.
Her peeps say they can't imagine
life without her.

Puppy #8 is Tori -
The lucky girl got to attend
the Fala Gala.
Her Mom says,
"she is a good listener".

Puppy #9
is our little Beckers -
She is quite the talented girl -
already learning to skateboard!!

Have a wonderful Memorial Day
and remember to toast all of the
brave men and women who
have put their life on the line
for our freedom.

XOXO
Lilly, Piper, Carrleigh and Ruairi

IT'S TRUE COLOURS THURSDAY - CREAM & AN AWARD

Good Morning,
And welcome to
True Colours Thursday.
If you wish to play along,
just let Blue know
and you're in - it's that easy.

The colour for today is CREAM -
and next week we will be
celebrating the RASPBERRY.
First,
we have one of our Sissy's pictures -
the CREAM coloured sails of
the Irving Johnson
against the blue skies of the Pacific.

Here is one of our CREAM coloured Charolais calves
in the February snow from last winter.

And one of the few "flowers"
Mom can "grow" -
the CREAM Queen Anne's Lace -
what a lovely weed!!

We are the recipients of
The Versatile Blogger Award
presented to us by the wonderful
folks at
The Teacher's Pet.
If you haven't met them,
please go by and say "hi".

We are supposed to tell 7 things about ourselves
and pass it on to 7 bloggers.

1. Scotties are hunters by nature -
we are rarely allowed to be off-leash.

2. AKC recognizes 6 different colours of Scotties -
as you can tell by looking at us -
Wheaten is quite a range.

3. Scotties are very inquisitive and will stop at nothing
if they see something that interest them.

4. Scotties are famous for ARRROOOing.
Not all Scotties do it -
but we can get quite the chorus going
when we get started.

5. The "Scottie look" is a haircut-
if we weren't groomed fairly often -
we'd be all bushy.
Mom works hard to keep us smooth
and unmatted.

6. When we are born we have a
perfect shaped carrot tail.
For the rest of our life,
to maintain that look,
the hair on our tails has to be trimmed -
otherwise we'd have a flag on it
like a Golden Retriever
or an Irish Setter.

7. Scotties are fiercely loyal
to their people
and their nickname is
"The Diehard".

Have a Terrific Thursday
and please feel free to take the award
if you are here and reading our blog -
we think you all deserve it.

XOXO

PRECIOUS MOMENTS

We feel so privileged
to have a hand in helping a puppy
get a start on it's new life.

When they are born,
Mom is right there with the Mother.
Mom's hands are the first thing
the puppy feels
as she breaks the sack and cuts the cord.
Then she lets the Mother take over
and get the puppy all cleaned up
and nursing properly.

And every day,
they are imprinted
and held close to our hearts
so they know they are loved.
We all love puppies
are are so excited when they come.

Mom makes goofy photos.

They get to spend some time in crates.

And then soon,
they are ready to go to their forever homes.
We rarely deliver one to it's new home,
but sometimes we go and visit the puppies.
Becky was different and we helped her new family out
by delivering her to them.
Lilly supervised packing the truck.

And Ruairi slept most of the way there.

We got really excited
because we thought we were going to
get to visit our homeland on the way.

Ruairi and his sister, Becky
spent their last night together
playing tug with each other.

And soon it was time for the best part-
putting Becky in the arms of her mom, Nancy.

We can tell by looking at their house -
Becky is going to be one loved and spoiled little girl.

IT'S TRUE COLOURS THURSDAY - RED & WHITE TOGETHER - THIS ONES FOR YOU, SUE

Hello,
Welcome to True Colours Thursday.
Our host for today is Miss Blue
and our colour for today is
RED & WHITE together.

Mom had this great idea
that she would get our
red bandanna photos
for Sue and the Porties.

She had visions of us all lined up
in a row on her little red bench
with a few western articles
highlighting the scene.

She still has that vision -
and it's still in her head -
not in print.

She thought it would be wise
to start us out one at at time
before she put the whole crew up there.
She started with Carrleigh -
it wasn't long before Carr knew
exactly what to do when
Mom gave the command,
"up on the bench".

Piper came next -
he would jump up, sit,
and then get right back off again.
He had very little staying power.

Then Mom tried two together -
Carrleigh and Lilly
seem to be discussing the matter.

By this time we were getting fairly worn down
and full of treats,
so we decided we could sit,
but she couldn't get all of us to
look at her at the same time
even if she was holding a treat in her mouth,
our leashes in one hand
and the camera in the other hand.

Finally, she did get us all to look the same way.

Next came the puppies
who are usually fairly cooperative,
but today was the exception.

They either wanted to
push each other off or

go in the opposite direction.

Check out
The Portuguese Water Blog
for the rules and regulations
for their annual bandanna day.

THE PUPPIES VISIT THE VET

This morning,
Becky and Ruairi
got "kenneled up" and
before we knew what was happening,
they left to go for their Vet visit.

This is Dr. Jim
at Carroll Veterinary Clinic.
He is our favorite doctor there
and we always enjoy seeing him.
(This is a younger, smaller Becky -
today she weighed 9 lbs 14 oz
and Ruairi weighted 10 lbs 5 oz)

And here is Miss Becky
sitting in the swing.
She wants to remind everyone
to take care of their pet's health.
She and Ruairi had their rabies
vaccinations today, plus distemper-parvo shots.

These are both important vaccinations,
but we can not stress enough
how important it is for you to give your pet
a monthly heartworm preventative medicine,
such as Interceptor.
And since we just lost our dear friend, Digby
to complications from a tick bite,
we also need to remind you how important
it is to use a flea/tick preventative such as Front Line.
Your peeps also need to do a daily check on you
to make sure there are no ticks that
have got into your fur -
it's their bite that will make you ill.
They can jump on for a ride,
bite you and then get off again.
Have your peeps mark your calendars
so they remember what days to give
you the treatments.
We get ours on the first day
of every month.

And be truthful with your Vet.
Our Vet is very prudent about vaccinations
and doesn't want to give us needless treatments,
but he needs to know what types of dangers,
i.e. fleas, ticks, etc,
that we encounter on a daily basis
so he knows the best way to treat us.

Have a great day and
remember "it's a jungle out there".

XOXO

NATIONAL DOG BITE PREVENTION WEEK

In a tradition started by none other than the Postal Service, this week (May 16 to 22) marks National Dog Bite Prevention Week. The public service campaign was initiated to call attention to one of the nation's most commonly reported public health problems - dog bites - and offers safety tips, emphasizing the need for increased pet owner responsibility in the prevention of dog bites.
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 4.5 million Americans are bitten by dogs each year. Of those, one in five results in injuries that require medical attention. In the latest annual data available, more than 31,000 people underwent reconstructive surgery as a result of being bitten by dogs.

To read more about it,
check out Caesar Milan's website.

Remember to keep your teefies
off of your postman
and everyone else!!

IT'S TRUE COLOURS THURSDAY - AZURE

Good Morning,
And welcome to True Colours Thursday.
Our host for today is the lovely Miss Blue.
Our colour for today is AZURE.
Playing along is easy,
just let her know and link back and you're in.

We went through our picture files this morning
trying to find some good examples for you.
So here goes!

This first picture finds
our handsome red king, Ruairi,
sporting his AZURE collar and leash.
The pattern is Noble Beast from Lupine.

Just seeing these lovely ladies making leis
reminds our Peeps of
their wonderful Hawaiian vacation.
But it doesn't make them want poi. BOL!!

Our sissy just sent us this picture of her tall ship,
the Irving Johnson,
moored in beautiful AZURE water.

And if you were standing in the top of the Eiffel Tower
you could look down and see this wonderful carousel.

This is the
Sylvatus Christian Church.
It seems to float against the AZURE sky.

Isn't our Dad a great sport?
Wearing Mickey's Sorcerer Hat
on a trip to Disney World.

And we leave you with the night sky
across Rocky Creek Farm -
beautiful shades as the sun goes down.

LOOKING FOR A HOME

Our little Scarlet
went to a wonderful home
with another breeder.

And they are looking for a home
for this precious
little black female Scottie.
Check out their website -
Herron's Sandhills Scotties
for the particulars on how
to contact them.

If our Mom wasn't "puppied out",
this little darling would be coming
to live on
Rocky Creek Farm.

YOU WERE THERE........

We know it was a surprise to most of you
when we announced that Carrleigh
had a beautiful litter of puppies.

But you have been there with us
through it all.

The (yawn!) 4:00 am feedings

Naptime

You even named the puppies for us.
Just a recap -
Hamish is now Sir Bentley
Angus is now Bailey
Dugan is still Dugan
Finlay is now Murphy
Henry is now Ruairi
Scarlet is still Scarlet
Jazzi is now Finleigh
Ciera is now Tori
and
Snickers is now Becky

For all of the daily activities -
bed changes,
weighing,
feeding,
worming,
painting their toenails.....

And too soon,
the time came for them to leave us
and go to their forever, loving homes.
We so look forward to seeing emails
and pictures from them.

And now we have sent
our little Ruairi
off to Puppy Kindergarten.
We hope he doesn't get his leash
tangled up in his kilt!!
Soon he will be the best educated dog
on the place and maybe he will teach us
a thing or two.

XOXO
Lilly, Piper, Carrleigh and Ruairi
