RUNNING RIGHT ON SCHEDULE

Our blue birds are returning
to this old bird house
that must be a gazillion years old
because Mom made it when
she was a kid -
and you know she's getting ancient!

These sweet, innocent looking sleepers,
Fergus and Jock,
have learned the secret
of climbing out of the whelping box.

The puppies are being introduced
to
Aunt Lilly,
who absolutely adores them.

All of the puppies have doubled their weight
and weigh over a pound now -
Mom likes to see this happen
between the 7th and 10th days.

And all of the puppies, but one little girl,
have loving, forever homes
picked out for them.

XOXO
Lilly, Piper, Carrleigh, Ruairi
and

I was going to put up bluebird houses this year, but the person at the shop talked me out of it because I would have put them on our fence posts and he told me predators could climb the fence and get to them...I've been thinking of a bat house instead on the barn...

One of the girls doesn't have a forever-home?? I'm sure it won't take long for that to change--I think a little boy would be a better fit for our household...

Sounds like Fergus and Jock are going to be the adventurers of the group :o)

Our bluebirds are here, too, and battling the dratted sparrows for the bluebird boxes. I've put fishing line over the holes to keep out the sparrows, but they break the line with their beaks. So I've resorted to wire. It's keeping the sparrows out, but the bluebirds have disappeared. I think they got tired of the battle. To Kim at Golden Pines - there are predator guards that you can put on the boxes to keep the bluebirds safe. They look a 4" tube that projects out from the hole - supposed to prevent predators from getting in.
Have a great day :o)

Yeah for bluebirds and sweetie pie puppies!

Isn't it amazing how fast they start exploring, even before the eyes are open. Bailey kept trying to get out of the box and the day the eyes opened up, three of them were out and starting down the hall to find me.

We have a Cardinal sitting on eggs in our lilac bush. When I go to sit under my bush, Mama Cardinal dive bombs me. What does she think I am a Cat? I do like eggies though.

Your Mom must be a great birdhouse builder....we doubt that anything SHE makes would last the season.

Love those puppy pictures. We'd love to have that little girl, but know that's not going to happen.

Blue birds!!! I would love to see some of those. We put out the house and nothing! BUT we have Goldfinches and they seem to be a bit brighter earlier than normal.

I hope someone picks that little girl....oh how I wish we were ready for another!

We have a bluebird box that is 28 years old. That is the first gift Tom got me. He bought me that bluebird box about 9 months after we got together!! For sure, my kind of guy.
I would love to hold and smell the puppies!!
