WHAT TO WEAR - HOW TO GO - WHO WE'LL MEET

Guess who sent us some mail?

The G-dog from over at
The Strawberry Mallard.

The bark around the puppy pen
is that he is hosting a pawty for
Miss Becky Blue Bonnet
and we're invited.

We have heard we will be traveling by
an exclusive private limo
and that this will be the
"event of the season".

But we don't know the theme.
Mom keeps telling us the theme is
"SCOTTIE".
But we are Scotties -
are we the reason for the pawty?

What to wear,
what to wear??
We don't want to embarrass
the Gussy Dog -
he always looks so stylish
and debonair.

Ruairi is positive
that since it's an afternoon pawty
in the Spring,
that a Hawaiian shirt would be appropriate.

But he can't decide if a lei
would be overkill with his leash and collar.

Ciera says,
"you haven't announced to anyone yet
that my new name is
Lady Victoria -
'Tori' for short."

"I'll be gone to my new furrever home
before the pawty,
but if I were going I'd wear a
stunningly simple collar and leash."

Becky says,
"it's my pawty"

"and I'll wear what I want too"

IT'S WHEELY WEDNESDAY - SCOTTIE COLLECTIBLES

Hello,
And welcome to
WHEELY WEDNESDAY.
Today,
we have someone new
to introduce to you and she
will be visiting our blog on
WHEELY WEDNESDAY.

This is our new wheelie.
Her name is
Miss Merry Anne Bright
and she hails from Germany.
She is as tall as an adult Scottie,
but quite a bit skinnier.
We guess that's why she is allowed to stand
on our kitchen table-
she must not eat much.

Anyway,
this is our plan.
And we have to start at the beginning
to tell you about it.
Miss Laurie, over at Magpie Ethel's blog,
asked her readers to challenge her
to show a certain type of collectible on Tuesdays.
Guess what Mom asked her to show??
You got that right - Scotties.
And Mom said,
"If you show me yours,
I'll show you mine".

So we thought that for the next few weeks/months
that would be a good job for
Miss Merry Anne Bright,
since she is one of Mom's newest Scottie collectibles.
So check back on Wednesdays,
to see what Merry Anne
has to show you.

We just hope by next week
she is properly attired.

XOXO

REFLECTIONS ON OUR SISSY'S SMILE

For a few years,
our sweet sissy
has been assisting with
living history displays
and sailing classes
aboard tall ships.
She started out as a volunteer
on the Pilgrim in
Dana Point Harbor.

She now lives aboard
the Irving Johnson,
which is a training vessel,
through the LA Maritime Institute.
Some of you or your children
might have been aboard this ship.
No she is not a pirate,
nor does she dress
in fancy dresses.

Because sometimes she might
have to do the dreaded job
of cleaning out the bilge.

But this is her favorite job -
climbing the mast to furl the sails.
She is the one who is topmost
(makes our Mom's knees quake)

This is a job she loves

And you can tell it
by her beautiful smile.

We love our sissy!!

CIRCLE OF PAWS NEEDED FOR DIGBY

We are calling on all of our friends
to gather round
and send
prayers,
healing zen,
power of the paw,
positive thoughts
and any other powers
you might possess.
Fly your flags,
light your candles,
send your love.

Our friend, Digby,
of Wilf and Digby Discover France
is suffering from a tick bite.
The prognosis doesn't sound good,
so we all need to gather round
and support him
and his family.

Please go by their blog
and leave your well wishes.

XOXO

REMEMBERING OUR JAVA BEAN

This morning,
we want to share a story
with you
about what happened
on the day
our Java went to the Rainbow Bridge.
The pictures on today's post
are from some of the memorials
that were sent to us
by friends and family.

The day before Mom, Dad and our Vet
had to help Java on his way,
we had torrential rains.

Our neighbor had come that morning
with his backhoe to dig Java's grave
which had about 2 feet of water
standing in it when they got home from the Vet.

Mom got a bucket and she and Lilly
watched as Dad dipped over a hundred
gallons of water from the grave.

Our sweet Vet had placed Java
in a blue canvas bag with an angel
at his head.
Dad gently laid him in the grave,
on his bed,
and started to cover him with the dirt.
As he started to cover him,
Dad told Mom she should take Lilly
and go to the house.
Mom knew that Dad needed
some time alone with Java.

After Dad had been out there about 20 minutes,
our doorbell rang and it was Dad -
he was all muddy and didn't want to
come in the house.

He said to Mom,
"The strangest thing just happened.
As I was covering Java,
I looked toward our house
and saw two Black Labs coming
up our road.
One of the Labs kept going,
and the other one came up to be petted."

The Lab that came to Dad
spent about 5 minutes with him -
just letting Dad pet him
and talk with him.
And when Dad started to the house
to get Mom so she could see the dogs,
they disappeared.

We have to think they were escorts
that came to take our sweet Java's spirit
across the bridge.

We miss him today and everyday,
but we know he's free of pain
and one day we'll see him again.

IT'S TRUE COLOURS THURSDAY - PRIMROSE

Good Morning,
Welcome to True Colours Thursday.
Our host for today is
the divine Miss B.
And if you'd like to play along,
just go over to her blog
and leave a comment,
then you're in.
It's that easy!

The colour for today is PRIMROSE -
which is pale yellow.
We might have fudged a bit
as we went through our files
looking for pictures
you might enjoy.

This is our church,
Dinwiddie Presbyterian.
It's on the list of historic landmarks
and is visited by many tourists every year.
This time of year the yard
has some PRIMROSE (or darker)
coloured dandelions.

And if you are traveling from LAX,
you might just get a glimpse
of this huge PRIMROSE sign,
advertising
RANDY'S DONUTS -
yum, we'd like to have one right now!

When you are waiting in line
to go up in the Eiffel Tower,
you will see the PRIMROSE awning
over each gate.

And the famous
Weeki Wachee Mermaids
all dressed up in their
PRIMROSE costumes

Our Mom has a soft spot
in her heart for
Raggedy Ann and Raggedy Andy.
Her Grandmother and Aunt
made hundreds of them
during their lifetime.
This pair with their PRIMROSE
shirt and dress were
made by our Aunt Stacy.
She was born in 1900
and almost made it to the year, 2000.

These toy sailboats
are for rent
in a small
Parisian park.
Surely one of them is
PRIMROSE.

And here's our little
BAILEY,
at his new home.
Not only does he have his new brother, Mackie
on the porch,
but some PRIMROSE pansies
line the sidewalk.

Have a TERRIFIC THURSDAY.

THE GREAT ESCAPE

Everyone looks so innocent.

Then they gather to plot.

And before we know it,
one of the girl puppies
pop over the side of the puppy box.
Ruairi assist with the escape
and then he is stuck inside
with no one to help him get out.

PARTY ON!

Saturday, April 17, 2010

WE'RE SNEAKING IN........

SHH!!
Don't tell Mom..

We're sneaking on the computer
to show you what's going on
at our house.

Carrleigh
is diligently watching over the pups
as they start their crate training.
Ciera, Becky, Ruairi -
You can see that Ruairi
is making a fuss -
just like his dear old Dad!

And here are the pups
playing in the grass -
you call that training!
Who does Mom think she is kidding?
(Becky is wearing the vest so you
can tell the girls apart)

OUT OF THE OFFICE ON A TRUE COLOURS THURSDAY

We have been extremely remiss
on doing our
True Colours Thursday
post for quite some time.

We have missed it
and following along with our
TCT pals.

It 's a fun post
and if you'd like to play along
just contact Miss Blue
and you're in -
it's that easy.
She's a wonderful hostess
and always has beautiful pictures.

The colour for today is
TURQUOISE
which is one of our favorite colours.
Mom is always on the lookout
for a bit of turquoise.

So today we leave you
for about a week
with our
"turquoise" out of the office sign.

We will still be sniffing around your blogs
in the evening,
but we have some major Spring cleaning to do
and some intensive puppy training
on the three that are here with us -
they are 9 1/2 weeks old now,
so it's time to start crate training.

Have a fantastic week
and don't forget us.
We'll be back before you know it.

PLAYING PUPPIES

Although the RH thinks it's a "cat game",
one of our (Lilly & Carrleigh) favorite games
is chasing a laser light.
Piper thinks he is much too intelligent
to be involved is such a silly activity,
but occasionally he will
join in the fracas.

Last night we all sat back
and watched Carrleigh and the puppies play.
Mom didn't get the video at the right time,
but at one time 3 of the puppies
were hanging on Carrleigh's tail
and going for a ride.

The girls have red collars
and the boys are wearing blue collars.
The girl with the tag is Becky
and the other girl is Ciera.
Murphy and Ruairi are the boys.

Murphy is leaving us today
to fly to Arizona.
His new Mom is coming
to pick him up and then
he will fly back in the cabin with her.

Have a wonderful Wednesday,
XOXO
Lilly, Piper, Carrleigh and Ruairi

WHERE THEY ARE NOW - PUPDATE

Good Morning,

We thought we'd try to do a little "pupdate"
this morning with pictures sent to us
of the puppies in their new homes.
(You might notice that we have
"Rocky Creek Scotties"
in the lower right hand corner -
we are not trying to take any credit
for the photos.
We decided to start doing this
so that when the photos are on google
it will be evident where they came from)

The first puppy to leave us was
Finleigh Suzanne.
She is definitely the princess
in her new home.

Miss Finleigh's Mom says
"Finleigh continues to do well.
You should see her race up the front steps.
It's amazing those short little
legs can do that."

Miss Scarlet Sage
was the second puppy to leave us.
Her new Mom says,
"She is soooo sweet.
When she gets tired,
she will go to my bedroom
and climb up on my pillow
to go to sleep.
She gets along well with everybody."

Mr. Bailey
was the third puppy to leave us.His new Mom says,
"Bailey is sleeping in the bed with us.
Last night he would hear the normal
house sounds and just bark and gr-awl.
We laugh!"

This morning we had an email from
Sir Bentley and Sir Dugan.
Their new Mom says,
"The boys slept through the night till 6:00 am!
We will send pictures soon."

Murphy leaves tomorrow -
we wonder what new adventures await him
in his new home with his
big sister, Molli.

Have a great day,
XOXO

PSA - PROTECT YOUR PET FROM THE SUN

As a person with a true red-head complexion,
our Mom has always been aware of the dreaded
SUNBURN.
From the time she was a child,
she was always slathered in sun screen
and sometimes even in the winter
you can even smell the faint aroma
of cocoa butter if you get close to her.
Peeps, don't forget your sunscreen when going out.
Remember the sun is at its strongest
between the hours of
10:00 am and 3:00pm.

But more importantly,
please realize that you dog is susceptible
to sunburn,
especially light dogs like
Carrleigh and Piper,
And too much sun exposure
will not only cause painful sunburn,
but it can cause skin cancer as well.

Many dogs love to lie in the sun,
please be careful if yours is one of them
and monitor the amount of time
that it spends in sunlight.

There are special
sunscreens for dogs,
but if you don't have one,
then a spray on sunscreen
for babies would work also.
Be careful not to get it in their eyes.

AND NOW THE NEWS YOU HAVE ALL BEEN WAITING TO HEAR!!!

We have fantastic news
to report today.

Sir Dugan
is going to live with
Sir Bentley Hamish
in Canada.

Their new Mom
will be flying down tomorrow
to meet our Mom
and will be taking them
back with her
in the cabin of the plane.

We know they will have many adventures
and we are anxious to hear about them.

FLYING PUPPIES??

There are many serious puppy inquiries
that fall through because Mom
won't let puppies fly alone
in the cargo hold of a plane.

She is not being obstinate or hateful,
she is just super careful
and cares about the welfare of the puppies.
She feels like her duty to them
does not end
when they leave us.

And reading this article yesterday,
confirmed to her why she feels that way.

If you don't want to read the article,
here's the gist of it -
A man fell asleep on a plane,
didn't get off when he should have
and ended up in a hangar for repairs.
Just imagine if that happened to a puppy.

XOXO

LIKE FATHER, LIKE SON

Occasionally, about once every 6 months,
this wonderful aroma is in the air at our house.
I call it "e de Lillybug"
or "e de Carrleighgirl"
and it just drives me crazy -
makes me do stoopid things
like keep Mom up
with my arrroooing all night long.

If you have followed our blog since the beginning,
you may remember my stint
as Piper Villa
and how so many of my buddies
came to my rescue.

It seems I have lost some of my
privileges once again.

No longer am I allowed to
just lie around and chew on
my favorite bone.

I've had to take a leave of absence
from my job as snoopervisor.

Dad says we guys need to stick together,
but he's not letting me check the weather
or help him on the computer.

I can't even lay on top of my crate
and watch over the back yard -
what if squirrels attack -
who will sound the alarm?

I am INCARCERATED again!!
and I hate it.
Mom says it's one of the longest weeks
of the year -
she sure has that right!

I only hope my sons
can learn from my experiences.

XOXO
Piper Villa
(oh! wait - help me figure out a new disguise -
I think Mom is on to this one)

PS - please don't tell Candy about this.
Her Mom just said I could go on a date with her.
