GUESS WHO CAME TO DINNER

On Saturday we were all aflutter,
as we prepared to welcome
The Scottish Terrier Club of Western Virginia
to
Rocky Creek Farm.

We had helium filled balloons
that Dad put on our mailbox
to show them the way.

We had to bark at the balloons
to show them who the boss is in our house.

Piper charmed everyone
with his beautiful smile
and his ability to talk.

But we got a surprise!!
Look who came to dinner!!
We expected Scotties,
but instead

We thought it was Sweetie!!

And Woodrow!!
(once we took a second glance,
we knew this couldn't be the Woodster!)

And when it was over and
the bullies and the Scottie folks had gone home,
our friends Rich and Vicki
came for dinner.
And Mom made
Avocado Won Tons.

And we didn't even get to taste them.
Just that day, Mom had an email
from Shadra Barker
telling about the evils of avocados
and not to feed them to your dog.

XOXO
Lilly, Piper, Carrleigh and Java

It looks like your day was full and fun!
For everyone!

Those avocado wontons look yummilicious.
What did you learn, specifically, about the threat of avocados to dog-types?
Not that we've ever tasted them, but we are curious!

LIfe's been busy around here.
Hiking. Swimming (check out our next post!)
AND the PUPPY SCOTTIE NEXT DOOR!
Nessie!
We have all fallen in love with her and are going to have to get some pictures soon.
She's not quite so silly and ooverly active now, so it's getting a little easier for Moma to snap some shots.
(Her teeth are still like razors, though!)

Have a good week!
We'll be back,
Jake and Fergi (both of whom are exhausted today!)

Were there lots of Scotties, too? It sounds like it was a pretty good day even if they did make you take a bath.

My oh MY!!! What a fun evening! I must say I'm super extra jealous that you got to hang out with some bullies!!!! I'm missing my bully a lot these days!

Piper looks so cute in that photo!!

I did know that avocado pits are toxic.... I'm also allergic to avocados and find them TOXIC!

Yes I too did not know that avocados are bad for us. (Except that in my book, vegetables are of no interest anyway, unless soaked in meat gravy or topped with cheese!)
You learn something new every day - yes, even a wise old chap like me.
Cheers! H.

Avocado won-tons? Oh yum! They sound absolutely wonderful! And,
I have to tell you that if I ever see the salt and peppers, I will let you know straight away.

Did you know, that your treat jar, was made by Jeannette Glass Company, and I live just up the road from that tiny little town. It's nice to see it being put to good use!

Aroo to Yous! And, if that recipe is floating about, please make sure it lands here for me!

It looks like you had a super fun day! How neat that you got to hang out with Bullies too!
Mom never shares avocados with us and we think it's because she just doesn't want to share because she's stingy!

Love ya lots

Oh what fun you would have had!! We bet you slept all day the day after.
Good thing you told those balloons who's boss because you just never know with them...
Stay clear of the avocadoes, CORN, onions and tomatoes!!

Did any Scottties come? Maybe if you hosted the BullTerrier club of WV, the Scotties would show! Hope you had fun & that it all made the baths & related torture worthwhile!!

Oh boy! A Scottie party! Obviously so much fun was had, they couldn't print the photos to protect the reputations of the Scotties. We can be a rowdy bunch, in spite of our rather staid appearance. Piper looks like he was having a wonderful time. Maybe the Bullies were there to act as bouncers?

Here's what I Googles on avacados:

Both the ASPCA and APCC (Animal Poison Control Center) have listed that persin, an element in avocados, is known to be toxic to pets. They note it can damage tissue in animals, including, but not limited to, the lungs and heart. Additionally, the high fatty content in avocados can physically provoke severe stomach problems, vomiting, or even worse, pancreatitis.

No one likes em here but HER...so they don't often show up in the house.

sniffies all around,
Bonnie

So many tasty items on that do not eat list you would think it is some kind of plot to make us suffer.

So what part of scottie dog did those people not understand. At least they could have put scottie outfits on their bullies.

Oh now we see that your momma has the gift of hospitality. That is so cool. Our mommy prides herself in being something of a hermit...people still come over to the cabin, but usually uninvited!! We are SUCH sociable pups that it is hard on us. Maybe you guys can sneak over here sometime??

mmmm.....next time sneak a bite for us. We love crunchy things and those treats look mighty tasty! How cooooool that you had bully friends come by. We would have been smiling, too. My Paw wanted a white mini bully, but Maw had wanted a scottie for years and years and he got me for her for Maw day 3 years ago. Otherwise, we would have a white bully just like your friend.
