We are copying Sue
at The Portuguese Water Blog.
She posted a Winter picture
to help us all cool down.
We remembered that we had some
good Winter pictures that didn't get posted
because we were so busy last Winter
entertaining you with our puppy pictures.
Right after Mom read The Porties blog to us,
she went outside and was pleased to see
10 turkey poults, or as people who live here say,
"widdies" crossing our yard.
She then recollected how she fed the turkeys
when the snow was so deep in the Winter.

Many times,
if we get up at night,
we look out the window
and see our solar lights
sparkling around our yard.
Now that it's Summer,
there is a large fan in this window -
Mom was afraid these "witches fingers"
were going to break the window last Winter.
Many of you know that we've just finished
with the haying on our farm -
when we have a cold Winter,
we have to feed at least 2 of
these huge bales a day.
And the rabbits -
Mom fed them last Winter
and now that it's Summer,
she chases them away -
those little buggers can eat a rose bush
before you can "turn around twice".

Now the lightning bugs (fireflies)
have replaced the snow crystals
as we look across the fields at night.
Many nights, we try to catch them.

Actually, you warmed us up....even though it's been cold to us. (50s) during the day and mid to high 20s at night. We can't compete with that!
Beautiful pictures.
XXXOOO Daisy, kendra & Bella
It worked! We are feeling a lot cooler! Thanks, guys!

Love ya lots

I love this post--What a "cool way" to start my day off!! But when you are melting in this heat, it's hard to remember that just a few months ago we were snowed in, with no power and only the Goldens keeping us warm--I knew I would again want a day like that about now! I do think relief is on the way for us, YAY!! :-))
Nice try, but the Mango is still too hot. Oh help!

Mango
Ahhh, that felt so good to us very thick coated pups - thanks for the cooldown.

It worked for me, but the pups are still panting.
WOW! Thanks, we do feel a little cooler after looking at that! Now we'll have to remember to post our pictures from the last few days in the middle of winter!

That worked!! It seems like it was just the other day that it looked like that outside!! Many feet of snow covered with ice and now it's so hot and humid with no rain at all. I'm going to look at your pictures some more! Thanks! Lots of love, Debbie and Holly

I liked your "cool" photos - but it's winter where I am so it's cold already for me.

Lovely pictures and perfect captions. A reminder of what we've left behind and what will be upon us again before too much longer!

I love the snow (except when it stays too long) and the best thing is I can conjure up the way it all smells. Clean, crisp, just lovely!

This post came at a time that we really really appreciated it! And we closed our eyes and imagined. Then we remembered ... lightning bugs! We can hardly WAIT!

HeHe, great idea! Our Daddy taped a TV weather cast from last January. When he feels really hot, he pops in the tape of last winter's weather and it cheers him right up. We thought he was weird!

Just what was needed to cool us all down this morning. Isn't it strange - in winter we long for heat and in summer we dream of snow.
It's quite cool here at the minute but never that cold. It looks beautiful none the less.
That's some funny looking chickens you got there!
