Mom typed out all of the names for us
and got them ready.
She never lets us use the scissors
because all we do is run with them -
and it scares her half to death!!

She folded all the names
and put them in a little plate.

To make it more interesting,
she sprinkled around a few
Charlie Bears.

She sat the plate down on the floor
and watched very carefully
for us to nose out the
first name.

Then she picked it up-

FALL ACROSS THE BLUE RIDGE

As they started up our driveway,
Dad started telling Mom
that he brought along the camera
just in case
they happened upon
a grand and glorious photo.

About that time,
he raised his head
and saw all of these buzzards
sitting atop of our fence post.

After they allowed Dad to
take a few snapshots,
they decided to take flight.

One lone one decided
to do a "totem pole" dance for him.

The rest of the day
was spent exploring
the gorgeous countryside.

They never got more than
25 miles from home.

It just seemed like a great little staycation.

Farmers markets

Buckwheat cakes with gravy

Little whittled animals

Ghostly pumpkins

We're not sure what this is -
it could be Virginia Creeper.

Apple crates
waiting to be filled.

Apple trees
that had already been picked.

And the day ended with a glass
of
Foggy Ridge Apple Cider.

Good Morning,
Welcome to
True Colours Thursday.
Miss Blue
picked the colour, GREEN,
for today.

Here's our man,
Piper,
strutting around in the
GREEN grass
of our front yard.

And about two days later,
Ruairi,
shows us that the seasons
are changing fast -
the leaves are beginning to fall.

Yesterday,
Arlo brought his sister, Abby,
to visit us at
Rocky Creek Farm.

He strutted around all day
in his GREEN muscle shirt-
check out that cute puppy dog physique!!

WHAT TO DO ON A FALL DAY

This morning as
Dad left for school,

we stepped out onto the porch
and looked around.

The cattle are grazing
on this wonderful
rainy Fall day.

The leaves are getting
more colorful every day.

The blue birds have left
our lone little birdhouse.

Ruairi has already
been bathed and dried.

So has Piper.

We girls wait in apprehension,
because we know we'll be next.

And then after everyone is
bathed and dried,
the stripping and clipping will start.

And it will look like Mom has
been plucking chickens
in our living room.

Lucky Ivy -
she's just out
playing in the rain.

TRUE COLOURS THRUSDAY - RED

We decided to play along with
Maggie and Mitch.
The colour for today is
RED.
Lilly is sporting
our clan tartan -
and a cute tam
made from it
that she borrowed
from her friend, Abby!
Maybe one day,
Mom will make her a kilt.

WE WERE PATIENTLY WAITING....

We knew yesterday
was the day.

The reminder had been
on our sidebar for weeks!!

We had been licking our lips
in anticipation.

We knew there was plenty of hamburger
in our freezer -
all she had to do was
get some out and cook it.

We all love veggies -
except we don't eat onions -
we know they can be toxic
to some dogs.

We have plenty of plates.

We have good manners.

We always clean up after we eat.

We wonder
WHY OH WHY
did our silly secretary
forget
TACO DAY??

We'll make sure that doesn't
happen again!!
