CARRLEIGH'S GOTCHA DAY AND LOADS OF PRESSIES

Today is a special day in our home.
It's Carrleigh's Gotcha Day.

This is the picture our breeder friend
sent us when she told us she was ill
and couldn't keep Carrleigh any longer.
Mom cried a lot thinking about Carolyn
being so sick and Dad said,
"Lets go visit Carolyn and get Carrleigh"
and the rest is history!

It all started out
just like a normal day.

We were laying around

and trying to find some mischief
to get in to.

when Mom found this package
on our porch.
She opened it
and let us take a sniff.
Jake, are you in there?
Is Fergi with you?
We could feel the love that went
into this beautiful package.

And we could smell it!!
It smelled so good that
Mom was ready to dive right in!

and some bone cookies
(made just for Java)

We could hardly wait to have one.
See how Carrleigh's toungue
is hanging out in anticipation.

And Dad had to keep us feisty Scotties back
so that Java could have one.
They are so crispy and good,
we wish we could share them with everyone.
We think either their Ninagirl
or their Moma
should go in to business.

Piper was fascinated
with all of the toys that were in the box.

And each toy
had it's own beautiful
handmade tag.
Mom could tell immediately,
without looking at the names,
which toy belonged to which dog.
Can you?

Were you right?

And then there were these
two little packets that were
wrapped in bubble wrap.
Mom decided they must belong
to her and put them up on her
special high shelf where we can't
get to them.

Did you know that Jake and Fergi
must be artist?
Check out this beautiful
kitchen glove.
We are willing to bet
that it just gets hung in the kitchen
and never touches a hot pot.

It must be Mom's "gotcha day" too.
Because when she went to the mailbox
she had an envelope from her friend, Laurie,
over at Magpie Ethel's blog,
with all of these darling
Scottie and Westie items enclosed.
Laurie is a very talented artist
who makes unique items out of
vintage finds.
She and Mom have a lot in common.
They can see a repurpose for everything.

After all of that excitement,
we had Carrleigh's favorite dindin.
Wild Alaskan Salmon
on top of kibble.

WHERE WERE YOU?

We're turning the blog over to Mom today.

Eight years ago, we saw a defining moment in our nation's history. It was one of those moments that sticks in your mind forever. Where were you when you heard the horrible news about the attack on our soil?

At the time, we were living in Southern California and I was on my way to work. I heard the news on the radio and thought it was a hoax, but I immediately called my husband who was still at home and told him to turn on the television. At that moment in time, I heard the devastating news that our nation had come under attack. Gary, my husband, was a newly retired Marine and the first thought that came to my mind was that he would be called back to active duty. Thank God, he wasn't called back.

One of my coworkers was a native New Yorker. I felt so sorry that day as she tried in vain to contact some of her family members. She finally was able to telephone a niece who reassured her that no one in her family was hurt.

But thousands were hurt or killed. And since then, we have lost a countless number of military heroes. Today, please take a moment to remember them and their families. The lives of the families was changed in an instant. Remember the noble firefighters and their families. It was a sad day for our nation and at that moment many people realized how important life is to us. God bless America.

TRUE COLOURS THRUSDAY - MAUVE to LILAC

Good Morning,

And welcome to True Colours Thursday. Our host for today is Blue and the guidelines are outlined on her blog. Basically you post and link it back to her. It's that easy and really interesting to see what folks will come up with.

We had a bit of trouble with this colour, so ours go from mauve to lilac to lavender and all shades in between. We are more turquoise or rust type of canines.

This is the quilt that our local
Sylvatus Ruritan Club
raffled off this weekend.
It was pieced by one of the ladies
who live nearby and then machine quilted.
We're sure there must be some mauve
squares in there.

You know our Mom has a
brown, wilted thumb
and can never grow anything.
Here are our kitchen "flowers".
Some of them are mauve.

This past winter,
our big sissy, Kat,
asked Mom to knit a scarf.
Mom used different shades of
purples and blues
and even received an honorable mention
in a contest!
We all belong to the
Scottish Terrier Club
or
Western Virginia.
Our seal has a
lavender thistle on it.
Little do the members know -
our Dad fights thistles all summer long
in our pastures.

And last,
but not least,
here is our beautiful Carrleigh consoling
Lilly and Piper's firstborn pup, Maddie.
This was after her other litter-mates
had left to go to their furever homes.
Carrleigh is wearing her
lavender Lupine Jelly Roll collar.

Today's colour is rainbow.
Our Mom is
less than conventional
when it comes to
putting curtains up on the windows.
We all like to see out.
Normally she has
Fiestaware cups hanging
like a valance on our kitchen windows.
This picture was made
last Christmas.
You can see she replaced the cups
with candy canes,
but the rainbow colored cups are still there.
