ONE POUND AND RISING....

We've heard it said

that you should put a marker

near something 

if you want to see

how much it is growing.

Mom never remembers

this when we have puppies.

 

 On the first night

of this clan's life,

she started putting

them in a shoe box

when she needed to

change their sheets

and clean the puppy box.

   

 Every night,

she and Dad

talked about how much

they had grown, 

but Mom

didn't photograph it.

 

 And now

she could kick herself

because,

collectively,

they have gained a pound

and you can really

see the difference.

When they were born,

they weighed an average

of 8.5 ounces

and now they weigh an average

of 11.75 ounces.

They are growing

like little Scottie puppies should.
