We, along with a lot of you, we have been recruited for Operation - Whack - A - Squirrel by Tank. If you wish to participate, please go over and let him know - he is looking for recruits world-wide.
Since Scotties are known for the expert hunting capability, we have been assigned the task of New Recruit Training. Java, our trusty labradog, will assist in the retrieval training part of our program.
The first year that Mom and Dad moved back to the farm, Dad gave Mom a beautiful, large wooden bird feeder, with a copper roof and a porch all the way around it. We started having a few problems with it - Blue Jays were coming and running off the song birds and then one day Mom looked out and saw squirrels!!
That prompted her to purchase a "squirrel proof" bird feeder. Obviously the manufacturers of this product did not consult any squirrels or test it out before they marketed it. Our Grandpa thought Mom should send the following pictures in to the designer. As soon as Mom hung it in the back yard, a squirrel was hanging from it and before "you could say scat" it had the lid off and was eating out of the feeder.
Now that we trusty Scotties live here at the farm, we rarely see a squirrel in the yard. We don't think they like us. We do see a large one run across the field occasionally, but when squirrel season comes around our cousin, Koy, will make sure that squirrel is surrounded by a pot of dumplings and gravy. For all of you city dogs who think this is awful, it's just a fact of life when you live in the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains.
Have a Magnificent Monday,
XOXO

PS - we hear that Piper is making his way back from being in exile at Maggie and Mitch's house. We know they entertained him well.

Hey gang - thanks for the shout-out. I appreciate your enthusiasm for our mission. Had to chuckle when I read about your cousin Koy. You wouldn't believe some of the comments I've been getting from so-called dogs who do not approve of our army. Give me a break! Woof, Tank
Tree RATS! We're gonna have to head to Tank's & check this out!
Feather, Darla, Pappy & LizzaBella ^..^
I have to say that mum does rather like the fluffy things and does say gooey things. But was brought up in a small village where her dad caught all kinds of animals for the pot. Mum does understand the fact of life in the country and how life must go on.
She sayd she still likes the little furry critters though. LOL
Hugs GJ xx
Even with three hunting dogs and a kid with a .22 we still have a boat load of squirrels! You're so right, it's a Blue Ridge thing!
I'm part of The Team too!

Mommy loves a lot squirrel.........
Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm....sweet mom's heart!!!
;-))))))))))))
Lots of love and kisses!!!!!!!!!!
We are part of the force too, but since we rarely see any squirrels around our house, we are the Internet patrol. So if anyone sees any good squirrel stories online, please let the OP Pack know.
Woos, the OP Pack
We are not allowed to talk about squirrels at our house. It has something to do with a squirrel in the wall. And babies. And a trap. A trap that caught nothing but a poor bird. And cost a lot of money.
We'll leave the squirrels to you. It upsets Mom to talk about squirrels.
Jake and Fergi (who got caught up! at least for now!)
WOOOOOOOOWOOOOOOOOOOOOO - can I be part of this gang too - I will go over to Tanks blog and enlist. I HATE Squirrels - although my humans like them and are afraid I may hurt one - I keep our property free of the beasts and I also aim to rid the major parks in London of these dreaded grey beasts - my D is a vegetarian so no meat for her - but I like the idea of squirrel with gravy and dumplings. Hell, I like the idea of anything with gravy and dumplings.

I've never seen a skwirl - I guess they are like fluffy rats? I'd be in your army if I was over there - good hunting.
cheers,
Ruby
We always see red squirrels out on our walks. They always manage to keep out our way though.
xx
Wooo, we get squirrels, but I am pretty good at keeping them away, right now we have a problem with fruit rats! Mommy hates them, we used to have the same feeder, but one day a rat died in it, and Mommy threw it away. No more squirrel bait!
