WE ARE SO BLESSED

Our Mom and Sissy
had made plans to go shopping yesterday -
a rare girls day out.

But we awoke
yesterday morning to a heavy
covering of fog.
At first they thought they
wouldn't go,
but then decided they would.
Just minutes after they crossed the border
from Virginia to North Carolina,
there was an accident
about 4 miles behind them.

Cars and tractor-trailers
stacked on top of each other
blocked the road,
but they had no idea it had happened.

Before they started home,
Dad called to let them know that I-77
was blocked, so they came up Highway 52.

When they got to the top of the mountain,
they had to back-track
and go around another way.

But thankfully, they made it home
safe and sound -
about 4 hours after they had planned
to be here.

We were so happy to see them
and we feel so blessed
that they were not involved
in any accidents.
According to reports
2 people were killed,
and 16 were seriously injured.
At least 75 vehicles were involved
and 1/2 of them were tractor-trailers.
(all pictures from the State Police reports)

Hug your peeps
and tell them how much you love them.

XOXO
Lilly, Piper, Carrleigh and Ruairi

We are so glad and happy that you made it safely. Last night the weather around this area was horrible and then we saw that accident on the news. Fancy Gap Mountain and the roads through there is well known for fog and problems but I don't think I've ever seen anything that bad. Thank goodness you are safe. Lots of love, Debbie and mom

Life is so precious. Life, and your health and they can vanish in a split second due to no fault of yours except being in the wrong place. I am so sad for the families effected in that accident and also thankful that your family is safe and sound.

This was a hard post to read! We crossed the bridge in Minneapolis 10 minutes before it collapsed a few years ago.

We are so glad your mom and sis are okay! What a close call! Mom drove past where an F4 tornado hit three minutes before it happened several years ago, so we know that feeling!

Whoa! I can't imagine how scared your peep and sis must have been.

I'll say a little prayer for those who were involved.

Fog is nasty stuff.

Glad y'all are OK. You know, you just never know when things can happen do you? I'm going to go lick my peeps.
