PUPPIES PAST AND PRESENT

On December 1, 2008,
Mom got the joy
of delivering her first Scottie puppy.
And was she ever excited when she saw
that it was a Wheaten -
It was hard for her to believe
that a dog as black as Lilly
could have a wheaten puppy.
She named this first puppy, Lacey.
Lacey's name is now
Sweet Petite Madeline -
Maddie for short.

Three "buglets" came that day -
all healthy, squirming and crying.
The second one was a Wheaten boy
that Mom called Polar -
his peeps named him, McDhubh (MacDoo).

After two Wheatens,
Lilly finally gave birth to a
black-brindle boy
that Mom named Mr. T
because he had a white "t"
on his chest.
But now his name is
Obie Trevino.

This is one of our favorite pictures
of Maddie with her parents -
it looks like her Dad, Piper,
is giving her advice,
while her Mom, Lilly,
looks on -
you can barely see Lilly's black nose
in the foreground.

Soon, it was time to take
their 8 week portraits.

Obie was the first to leave
for his new home -
even though we knew
he was going to a wonderful home,
our Mom cried all day
the day before he left.

Sweet little Maddie
was the last one to leave us.

Here is Maddie now -
a beautiful young lady
who will be 2 years old tomorrow.

Obie was an only "kid"
in his family for a couple of months -
his big sister, Oreo,
went to the Rainbow Bridge
shortly after he went to live with them -
but now he has a little sister, Ebony
(on the right)
and a human brother, Trystian.

Unfortunately,
shortly after McDhubh
went to his new home,
he was involved in a tragic accident -
we still grieve for him.

But we are always thrilled
to get to know all of the wonderful people
that our puppies introduce us to.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING

All of the Rocky Creek Clan
join in to wish you a
Happy Thanksgiving -
may your blessings overflow.

In celebration of the holiday,
we will be spending quiet time
(as quite as a Scottie can muster)
with our family for the weekend.

We will see you when we return to bloglandia.

WE WERE ASKED TO DO A COLLAR REVIEW

we received a nice email
from Rashida at
Dog Collar Boutique.

She asked if we would be interested
in trying out a collar
and then reviewing it on our blog.

There are a lot of fancy collars
on their website,
but since Christmas
is right around the corner,
we decided that we'd like
to try the
Jingle Bell Dog Collar.

We were all intrigued by it,
but a little bit frightened.
All of we adults
took one step back
and that left Ruairi
to be the first to try out the collar.

He looked very handsome
wearing it,
but we all got a big laugh
at his expense -
the bells on it ring so nicely
that every time Ruairi took a step,
he turned around
to see where the noise was coming from.

We all felt like the
beautiful red collar
would show up best
on a black dog.

So Lilly got to try it -
she was more interested in looking
for treats than modeling
so Mom could hardly
get a good picture of her.

The Jingle Bell Collar
is a nice leather collar and
made very well.
While it would be a lot of fun
to wear while entertaining in your home,
strong dogs like us
need a more substantial collar -
and it does come in a wider size
which would be better for us.

We appreciate the opportunity to try it out
and you can bet that when we entertain
during the holiday season
that one of us will be sporting
this lovely collar.

SHE GOT IT..........WE'RE IN TROUBLE NOW

Yesterday,
when Mom took Sissy
back to the airport,
we arrroooed at the UPS driver.

He left a package on our porch
and you know what it contained -
that fancy, schmancy camera
that our Mom has been wanting.

Of course we do have one camera hound
in our pack -
jumped up and got his picture snapped
before she really figured out
how to focus it.

But she likes it
because it takes pictures very quickly.

And it shows up every hair -
Mom - we need to be groomed!

Some of us are not impressed by anything -

and others of us are just plain insulted
by the flashing lights.

We know she'll be practicing with it a lot
as the days go by -
please bear with us.

WE ARE SO BLESSED

Our Mom and Sissy
had made plans to go shopping yesterday -
a rare girls day out.

But we awoke
yesterday morning to a heavy
covering of fog.
At first they thought they
wouldn't go,
but then decided they would.
Just minutes after they crossed the border
from Virginia to North Carolina,
there was an accident
about 4 miles behind them.

Cars and tractor-trailers
stacked on top of each other
blocked the road,
but they had no idea it had happened.

Before they started home,
Dad called to let them know that I-77
was blocked, so they came up Highway 52.

When they got to the top of the mountain,
they had to back-track
and go around another way.

But thankfully, they made it home
safe and sound -
about 4 hours after they had planned
to be here.

We were so happy to see them
and we feel so blessed
that they were not involved
in any accidents.
According to reports
2 people were killed,
and 16 were seriously injured.
At least 75 vehicles were involved
and 1/2 of them were tractor-trailers.
(all pictures from the State Police reports)

Hug your peeps
and tell them how much you love them.

XOXO

JUST TAKE THOSE OLD RECORDS OFF THE SHELF.........

Occasionally we let Mom and Dad
go away for the weekend.
This weekend we were treated -
she left us in the care of
two beautiful mermaids.

We all lined up to get our
ARRROOOS in tune,

while Mom and Dad
went up the
Shenandoah Valley of Virginia.
They toured the house and grounds
and were envious
of the beautiful gardens of Monticello.

Their visit was coming to a close
just as the sun started to set
over the mountains.

But as they left,
Dad couldn't resist
having his picture
made with Thomas Jefferson.

While back at Rocky Creek Farm,
we were reminiscing
about the days of old.

When mermaids kept us before
and Java played that
"old time rock and roll' -
Tom Cruise, eat your heart out.

So far no pictures of us have surfaced -
we'll let you know if they do.

You don't even have to live
in the United States to vote.

Stuart is a great ambassador
for our breed,
a wonderful pal
and a fantastic ambassador
for canines everywhere.

Please get the word out -
we want it confirmed
that
Blue Stuart

Today is the 235th birthday
of
The United States Marines.

OOOO-RAAH!!

WE'D LIKE TO INTRODUCE......

Our new furiend,

and give him a
great DWB welcome.

WHERE IS YOUR FAVORITE NAPPING PLACE?

As Canines,
we all see it as our duty
to do a fair amount of
napping and resting.

We have several favorite places
to nap, do you?

As you can see,
at a very young age,
Lilly had already decided
the best way to sit -
with her right arm propped
against the arm of the chair.

Here is a recent picture
of Miss Lilly -
we were amazed
at how much she had matured -
she looks like a little Scottie lady now,
instead of a young pup.

Lilly and Carrleigh
both love to sit in Mom's chair -
sometimes you will find them
sitting there together.

Little Ruairi is a youngster
and still hasn't figured out
the best place to rest -
he is always jumping around
from one place to another.

But all of the adults agree
that the best place
is under this rocking chair
in our living room.
Many times you will find
the three of us all piled under there together -
hiding from that puppy - hehehe.

XOXO
Lilly, Piper, Carrleigh and Ruairi

UPDATE ON LADY VICTORIA

Yesterday,
we got one of those emails
that we always look forward to -
pictures of one of our puppies.

This is Lady Victoria -Tori for short
who lives in New York.
(she's the puppy that Murray named Ciera)

According to her peeps,
she is fitting in very well.

They have decided to let her go au naturel
with very little trimming -
she will have a nice heavy coat
for the cold winters they have up there.

They say her temperament is sweet
and she gets along well in their family.
She has also learned her basic skills
and is starting some agility.

We are so happy
that she has such a loving family -
that makes us smile.

HAPPY EVER AFTER

It was unknown
to The Handsome Red King Ruairi
that his sister
Princess Becky Blue Bonnet
had fallen under the same wicked spell.

A bumbling bee -
and all she could do was buzz around.

Before Winter came
and bees had to go into hibernation,
the brothe
r of
The Handsome Red King Ruairi
and Princess Becky Blue Bonnet
got word of the evil scheme.

In the stealth of night,
he sailed his ship into the harbor.

Disguised as a pirate,
the Handsome Prince Murphy of Rushlow
came to the
ir aid.
He told his bumbling siblings
that he had a plan
to restore their rightful place
as rulers on the throne of their country.

Prince Murp
hy
told both
the Handsome Red King Ruairi
and his sister,
the Lovely Princess Becky Blue Bonnet
to fly to the kingdom
and land on the lips
of
The beautiful Princess Carrleigh
and
the Devilishly Handsome Prince Piper.
Once they did this,
they would receive a kiss
and return to their b
eautiful self.

As the
Swashbuckling Prince Murphy of Rushlow
sailed off into the night,
the Handsome Red King Ruairi
and the
Beautiful Princess Becky Blue Bonnet
followed his orders.

Once they received the kiss
of the
Beautiful Princess Carrleigh
and the
Handsome Red Prince Piper,
all lived happily ever after
and reigned over their kingdom together
with Lady Lillybug
as their court advisor.
They were forever remembered
as the kindest rulers of the land.

The End

XOXO
Lilly, Piper, Carrleigh and Ruairi

from Murphy Rushlow and Becky Blue Bonnet
