LENDING A HELPING HAND BY KNITTING

We know that knitting is a hobby
that many of your peeps enjoy
and that now they are probably starting
to gear up for the
Christmas present knitting
.

But before they start,
may we suggest a couple of organizati
ons
that could use a few hours of their time
and they don't have to leave
their own living room.

These three projects all seem
to have the same deadline -
October 31st.
Warming Families
(might extend beyond Oct 31st)
is a nationwide project that
is trying to collect 25,000 hats
for people in need.
If you check their website,
you can probably find a link
to a local charity that is collecting them
and they will be used in your own neighborhood.

The Cookie Sheet Blanket project
benefits babies in NICU in Ohio.
You may contact Kathy
for an address to send your blankets to.
There is also a contest that you could win.
If you check,
there might be the same need in your own community.

October is national
Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
To help out,
a "boob knit along"
is being sponsored by
a local yarn shop in Mt. Airy, NC
We're not sure if this is just a local project,
or if it is nationwide as well.
There is always an opportunity
to knit chemo caps and scarves for
breast cancer victims.

We think the point that we're trying to make is that
there is always the opportunity to help out your fellow man,
even if it is one stitch at a time.
We'll show Mom's projects
in another post.

XOXO

Hi Lynn and Scotties and Java,
Thank-you Lynn for this great post. I am stsrting to get better!! I am having 5 good days out of 7 days. I have to make some bedding for Bambi real soon, so she is warm in her bed, and I know I can make a fleece hat for the homeless. Maybe I can make three or five hats, who knows. Thanks so much for this post.
Love you all, Fern

You are so furry thoughtful to bring these projects to our attention - so worthy and important. Thank you for telling! Will try to do something, although mom's knitting skills and time are both lacking lately. And we are very glad to hear that Lilly is coming home soon!!! Hoo-rah!

It's always good to see a reminder on charities that can use a little help, especially at this time of year when it's starting to get cold.

I bet you're all excited to get Lilly back home.

Thats a lot of good causes there. Mum made a lot of small hats recently for babies in third world countries. It stops them losing heat and dying. Looking forward to seeing Lilly.. Hugs GJ x

Well, now there is one more (actually several more) (very worthy) reason Moma wants to get out her ancient knitting needles and rehone her knitting skills.

Keep us posted on LIlly!

Hi Lynn,
How was the Doctor's visit?
I hope this is a good day all around. Your LIlly comes home and the Doctor tells you good things!
I have a question?
How do I get my favorite blogs listed on my blog?
Love ya, Fern
