THE GREAT LEAF CHASE

This morning when Carrleigh jumped up in Mom's lap,
Mom thought she smelled bad and needed a bath.
If you've ever bathed a terrier before,
you know they must be
thoroughly combed out before bathing.

So Mom put a leash on Carr and was going
to take her outside to the grooming table.
(Mom was even wearing
her "professi
onsal" dog groomer's coat
so we knew what was about.)

About the time Mom opened the door to take Carrleigh out,
Piper zipped out onto our "inside" porch,
stood up against the door to the "outside" porch
and low and behold - it opened.
And out he went - totally ignoring the two groundhogs
who were standing in front of the granary.
Piper was off on "the great leaf chase" and
the wind was blowing so hard it was giving
him a lot of chances to chase leaves.

Mom panicked a bit, but then she decided
that Piper wasn't really trying to go anywhere
but the corner of the yard where all of the leaves were.
She went back in the house and got a leash
and her camera and proceeded to do
a little off leash photoshoot. He evaded Mom by trying
to get behind the farm trailer.

He totally tried to ignore her.

But during all of this running,
Mom got a picture that will probably
be one of her favorites of him
and will go on her website.

While Mom was photoing Piper,
Carrleigh was patiently tied to our
Canine Hitch.
(as you can see in the picture,
it is strong enough for bullies,
so it should hold a Scottie, right?)

Once Piper was caught,
Carrleigh got brushed
and readied for her bath.and now she's the cleanest one!

XOXO

We had as much fun reading about the Great Leaf Chase as we imagine Piper had actually running it. And, we agree, that picture that Mom captured with her camera is stunning! Everything about it (color, texture, composition) - especially the happy little dog!

And so, Carrleigh, how long will you STAY that clean?!

That is a lovely photo of Piper - but we are not sure about avoiding the Groundhogs? He sure has a big grin on his face - so I guess leaves are better than groundhogs...

We hate baths - we hope you get out there and muddy yourself up again...

Oh Piper, you sure did have a good time with those leaves! Leaf chasing is great fun for us too. Banjo specially likes it.

Carrleigh got a bath but what about you. Did you escape from the tub too?

What a great photo of Piper! And Carrleigh looks pretty even before her bath in that last photo. Where were Lilly and Java during all this excitement? You're so lucky to have that nice big backyard to play in!

Petey

I laughed when you said that having a Scottie sit on your lap while watching the Wizard of Oz would make it a perfect evening. Ladybug does not sit on laps. She bounds over them, bounces on them, stands on them, every once in a while she will sit on Jeff's long legs. Will she ever settle down and sit on my lap? And to brush her is even funnier. I literally hold her down while brushing one side then turn her over to work on the other. She is always a mess. I am not sure how the groomer sends her home so lovely. It is beyond me.

Hi Friends,

Yesterday we let Bambi out and their was a Scottie on our back patio!!! Poor little thing was lost and had been lost for awhile. Bambi lite into the poor thing. Tom was out in a flash and keep Bambi away from the scottie. The scottie was out the back door fast and Tom did not get to catch it. I have been calling ever since. But no dog yet. Hope the pup shows back up.
Love you all, Bambi and Fern

Hey, Piper. i made a run for it myself today, gotta take all the chances you get, if you ask me. I had a great time running into the neighbour's yard and chasing the other neighbour's Kitty Kat.
You sure would have had fun with all those leafs, too....
Poor Carrleigh. A clean terrier is a defeated terrier....

Piper, were you playing hide and go seek?? Maybe you were trying to distract Mommy from giving Carrleigh a bath. Good job.

Piper sure must have had fun chasing those leaves. Mom should be very happy with that photo - it is just so beautiful. Funny how the best shots come when we are least expecting them. Carrleigh looks very happy to be the cleanest - she looks very nice.
