On Saturday morning,
we awakened to the smell of
green beans cooking.
"What's this?" we asked.
Before daylight we were walked
and soon Mom and Dad
were on their way.

It was the day
of the

Specialty Dog Show.
Mom and Dad are both members
so hence the green beans -
the members provided the lunch
for the participants.

There was more grooming
and bathing and hairspraying
going on than there is
for a human beauty pageant.

Mom, the dogshow novice,
was in charge of passing
out the numbers.
See the little Scottie on the pole
in front of Mom?
The founding family
of the
Scottish Terrier Club of Western Virginia
have won so many trophies
they took the Scotties
from them and made poles to
run the ring rope through.

And Mom came home and took one look at us
and said,
"Our grooming habits are changing"
Even though we don't look it,
we know we are all champions
in the eyes and hearts of
Mom and Dad.

And now we are hiding,

Java is so lucky
he doesn't have a beard -
she'd be trying to make him
look like a Scottie.

Hey guys..you look like you had fun at home. So you don't like to show off? Thank goodness we don't have hair. I have a feeling we would have bows and hairspray.
Benny & Lily
Anstamm.....isn't that where Roundtown Mercedes of Maryscott came from? Or was I snoozing through the latest doggie show? Anyways, I'm glad I'm not a show doggie....too much messing with the hair. Handstrippin n such. I like to run n play n roll in the mud. Lovely jar of treaties...hope you get lots n lots and she keeps it full all the time. In the meantime, hide. I hear Agatha has a great bomb-shelter, maybe she'll rent out space. Piper doesn't look happy about the prospect of grooming at all.
toodles,
Bonnie
Hi all,
Thanks for the photos of the show.
I am glad you guys did not have to go and be in the show. Our Bambi hates a bath!!! You mention bath and she is gone. When she was young
she loved to play in the water, but not any more.
Love you all, Bambi and Fern
Thank you for taking us to the show!!! xx
Oh, that Wheaten Scottie was beautiful, never seen one of those before. Hey, tell your Mom you are all just beautiful the way you are. We love you - don't change.
Tail wags, the OP Pack
I kinda feel sorry for those show dogs who get fussed over constantly... must be a pain.
Looks like a fun contest! You mom looked very serious about those numbers!!
Sounds like you all are going to be stylized!!
Hugs and snaggle-tooth kisses,
Sierra Rose and mom
Looks like a great show - glad they remembered to bring some treats home for you!
lots of woofs
Clive
No point looking like foo foo show dogs unless you are actually going to a show. I like that rumpled look much better.
Slobbers,
Mango
Wooos! If being a show dog means more grooming, you can count me out too! Yuck, all that brushing and hairspray and smelly things..... argghhhhh.... time to go roll in the mud I's say.... but that would mean just another bath.....well, I like the scruffy look, it suits you!

What a cute Scottie cookie jar!
We think you guys are in deep doodoo! When we go to Airedale rescue once a year, mom gets the same crazy grooming ideas! YIKES!
Love ya lots,
Maggie and Mitch
Hopefully the longer you manage to stay hiding the grooming will be forgotten.
Good luck!
Molly, Taffy and Monty
So glad to hear you were not subject to the mass-torture chamber of grooming! How fun that your mom got to help with a speciality, though! The Frenchie speciality is in Maine this year, so I'm safe. I've already heard rumblings about next years - it's much closer in Wisconsin. I am neutered, so I'm off the hook (so to speak) for conformation, but they do rally & obedience too - I wouldn't complain if I got to there for fun. I hear they make good cheese in Wisconsin, so how bad can a trip there be????
Snorts-
Brutus the Frenchie
That was a furry khool use of the older excess trophies!
Good lukhk avoiding the 'grooming' table!
Hugz&Khysses,
Khyra
Uh oh....find REALLY good hiding places guys!!!
Smileys!!
Dory
Grab the cookie jar and all the water you can carry and hide!! Grooming is never a good thing.
licks and sniffs, Sasha
That looked like a very nice show. You guys are lucky that your people are so interested in your breed.
Have a good time testing those treats.
