WALKING WITH PUPPIES

When Mom leashes up
the adults dogs,
each one knows exactly
where they will walk
and for the most part will stay in their place.
Occasionally we get really excited
and decide to tie our leashes
around her legs so she can't walk!
To see perfection in motion,
you need to check out some of
the OP Pack's walking videos.

So after the
"three dog circus"
of getting the puppies
all on leashes,
she starts out with them.
See how well they are doing.

And in about 2 steps,
they have all changed position
at least 3 times!

And back again.

And again.

But they are happy and healthy
and that is the main thing.
Sooner or later,
the leash thing will come
when we least expect it.

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY

We thought since we are celebrating
Mother's Day
this weekend,
you might like to see our mothers.

This is
Laurie Darlin' -
she is Lilly's mother.

This is
Foxy Roxy -
she is Piper's mother.

This is
Sunny Dee-
she is Carrleigh's grandmother -
we don't have a picture of her mother.

And this is Ruari's, Becky's and Tori's mother -
our own Carrleigh.

Happy Mother's Day,
XOXO

SUMMER SAFETY - REMEMBER YOUR PET

Many of you know and love
our furiend, Stuart.
He is wise, as are most Scotties,
and quite the opinionated wordsmith.
We tend to agree and support him
on everything he says and does.

He owns some wise Peeps
and he had HER send our Mom
a personal email in response
to one of the comments
we left on his most informative blog
about leaving your dog at home.

Since the temperatures are rising
up into the mid - 80's and above,
it's very important to leave you pet at home
if you think you can not take it in
to the place you are visiting.
Stuart says it all so much more
eloquently than we do.
Please go by and check out his advice.

If you've been reading our blog
for the past year,
you might remember what a good time
Lilly and Mom had when they
went to the beach with our cousins
.

If you look at this picture,
it might appear that Lilly is just
sitting on Carolyn's lap.
But if you look closer
you will see that Lilly is wearing
a stylish blue harness
that is fitted with a leash
that hooks into the seat belt.

When you are traveling,
it is so important to secure
your pets in the seat
or in a crate.
If you have to come to a sudden stop,
your pet has no way to hold on
and could be seriously injured.

Harnesses and special pet seat belts
are the best way to secure your pet.
Hooking their collar to a seat belt
is a dangerous way to secure them
because a sudden stop could then
cause serious neck injury.

Identify your pet.
Our Mom is slightly anal retentive
on this subject, so if she gets on her soapbox,
we'll try to kick her off.

Microchipping is the best way
to identify your pet and is fairly inexpensive.
In addition to microchipping, we highly recommend
that your pet be identified by a tag on the collar.
And you've heard us say it before -
Boomerang tags are the best!
If you can't order from them,
stop by your local Walmart -
they usually have a machine
where tags can be made in minutes
for just a few bucks.

If your pet were to get separated from you,
the chances of someone
calling a telephone number
found on a collar tag are fairly high.
Many people would never think
to have it checked for a microchip
and that wouldn't happen unless
it was turned over to the authorities.

So we have both -
microchips and tags
and the only place we go without tags
is in the dreaded tub.
No puppy leaves our house
without being identified by a tag
with their name
and a telephone number on it.

Water safety
is another important issue,
especially in the warmer months.
Our little Scottie bodies aren't
designed for swimming,
but even if you are a dog that swims well,
it is important to wear your life-jacket,
especially if you are boating.
Check out Kira an Scampi's blog -
they boat a lot on the
Nauti-dog.

And you will see them practicing
safe habits by wearing their life-jackets
and being attached to a leash
while swimming in the ocean.

Last, but not least,
we've said it before and we'll say it again.
Sunscreen is most important for your dog,
especially if they are light colored dogs.
They can sunburn easily just like humans
and just like humans they can get skin cancer.

Have a fantastic day
and be safe.

XOXO
Lilly, Piper, Carrleigh and Ruairi

PS - we don't know how we forgot
this super important point.
Be sure do drink plenty of water
and stay hydrated -
a heat stroke can affect a dog
just like it can a person.

IT'S WHEELY WEDNESDAY - SCOTTIE COLLECTIBLES

Good Morning,

Welcome to Wheely Wednesday.
It's me, Miss Merry Anne Bright
and I am all aflutter.
Yesterday when Dad came home with the mail,
there was a parcel addressed to
Rocky Creek Scotties,
a Royal Parcel.

Lilly, Piper, Carrleigh and the pups
were all jumping around to see what
had come to them in the mail.
Mom wasn't sure what it would be,
so she opened it for us.

Then I saw it -
the card with the picture of a Wheeley on it.
I wheeled closer so that I wouldn't miss a word
when Mom read the message from the
lovely and gracious Miss Enid.

Even thought I was a late entry in
Scruff's Wheeley Show,
I received a pin for being a contestant
and a card from Enid!!

I was so excited that I made Mom
put it on me right away -
it goes beautifully on my clan tartan,
don't you agree?
And I told her I wanted to be photographed
in the flowers like
Autumn and Francesca.
I know you've heard of Mom's gardening skills
and I'm a bit embarrassed for her;
but she does grow a lovely dandelion.

And see my pin!!
Isn't is stellar?
Thank you, thank you to the
wheelies, doggies and leggeds at
The Square House.

So that gave me an idea for today -
I asked Mom to photograph
her Scottie pins so you could see her collection.

Mom found this little Virginia Scottie pin
at a flea market in California.
She wondered how it traveled there,
but since then we have found out that
these Scotties were made with peoples
names on them, not states
as she previously thought.

Some of her pins are still on her clothes
in her closet.

And I know she didn't get pictures
of all of them.

As she is helping me with this post,
she is thinking of more pins that
didn't get in the photograph.

Maybe one day she will let me wear
one of them.
I especially like the one
that looks like a rider's crop -
I did watch the Kentucky Derby
on Saturday and got very excited!

And here they are in a closeup
so you can see them better.
We know more will "crop up"
as we go along.

Have a Wonderful Wheely Wednesday,
XOXO
Merry Anne

IT'S A TOUGH JOB, BUT SOMEONE'S GOTTA DO IT

About midnight on Sunday night,
Mom thought she caught a bug -
multi-tasker that she is-
we wondered how she could catch a bug
while she was sleeping-
she wasn't snoring that loud
and we don't think she had her mouth open.

When she got up,
Dad was sitting in the living room
and asked her what was wrong.
She said she was sick
and he said
"you too".

It turns out that bug was
food poisoning.
And for about 24 hours,
Mom and Dad were none too happy.

It took all of the nursing skills
we could muster to get them through it.
Lilly, Becky, Ruari and Tori
are so exhausted,
they wouldn't even let us take their picture.

Mom and Dad are feeling better now
and by tomorrow should be back to normal.

XOXO

WHAT TO WEAR - HOW TO GO - WHO WE'LL MEET

Guess who sent us some mail?

The G-dog from over at
The Strawberry Mallard.

The bark around the puppy pen
is that he is hosting a pawty for
Miss Becky Blue Bonnet
and we're invited.

We have heard we will be traveling by
an exclusive private limo
and that this will be the
"event of the season".

But we don't know the theme.
Mom keeps telling us the theme is
"SCOTTIE".
But we are Scotties -
are we the reason for the pawty?

What to wear,
what to wear??
We don't want to embarrass
the Gussy Dog -
he always looks so stylish
and debonair.

Ruairi is positive
that since it's an afternoon pawty
in the Spring,
that a Hawaiian shirt would be appropriate.

But he can't decide if a lei
would be overkill with his leash and collar.

Ciera says,
"you haven't announced to anyone yet
that my new name is
Lady Victoria -
'Tori' for short."

"I'll be gone to my new furrever home
before the pawty,
but if I were going I'd wear a
stunningly simple collar and leash."

Becky says,
"it's my pawty"

"and I'll wear what I want too"

IT'S WHEELY WEDNESDAY - SCOTTIE COLLECTIBLES

Hello,
And welcome to
WHEELY WEDNESDAY.
Today,
we have someone new
to introduce to you and she
will be visiting our blog on
WHEELY WEDNESDAY.

This is our new wheelie.
Her name is
Miss Merry Anne Bright
and she hails from Germany.
She is as tall as an adult Scottie,
but quite a bit skinnier.
We guess that's why she is allowed to stand
on our kitchen table-
she must not eat much.

Anyway,
this is our plan.
And we have to start at the beginning
to tell you about it.
Miss Laurie, over at Magpie Ethel's blog,
asked her readers to challenge her
to show a certain type of collectible on Tuesdays.
Guess what Mom asked her to show??
You got that right - Scotties.
And Mom said,
"If you show me yours,
I'll show you mine".

So we thought that for the next few weeks/months
that would be a good job for
Miss Merry Anne Bright,
since she is one of Mom's newest Scottie collectibles.
So check back on Wednesdays,
to see what Merry Anne
has to show you.

We just hope by next week
she is properly attired.

XOXO
Lilly, Piper, Carrleigh and Ruairi
