WE'RE PATIENTLY WAITING

We've had a little problem
at our house
for a couple of days.

It seems that the
old treat jar
has run a bit empty
and the tall person
who can drive
has got a bit lazy.

She put some of our
kibble in an old treat bag
and has been trying
to convince us that it's
a new type of treat!!

Do I look like I
hit the floor of the whelping box
just yesterday??
Who does she think
she is fooling?
Well, truthfully,
it has been working
rather well with Ivy,
but she's just a youngster
and very eager to please.

Mom still doesn't want
to go to town today
so she found a recipe
that a friend recommended
and made us some homemade treats.

It's smelling pretty scrumptious
at our house
but now she says
they have to cool
before we can taste them.
And then she'll give us the old tale
about how big they are so
she'll have to break them in half....

Some Moms...

Just in case your Mom would
like to try the recipe,
here it is.

Pumpkin Peanut Butter Dog Cookies

1 cup pure pumpkin
2 eggs
3 heaping tablespoons of peanut butter
2 1/2 cups wheat flour
3/4 cup rolled oats
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1/2 cup ground flax seed

Mix dry ingredients (flour, oats, cinnamon and flax seed) together. Stir in peanut butter. Beat eggs into pumpkin, then mix pumpkin mixture into dry mixture. Knead together into ball in bowl and roll in cellophane. Refrigerate for an hour. Roll out and cut into shapes. Bake in 350 degree oven for approximately 35 minutes. Cool and enjoy.

XOXO

Oh yes Gail tries that 'pretend the kibble is a treat' trick on me too sometimes....
Those freshly baked treats look a much better bet.

Does she think it is April Fools Day pulling that trick on you?
We do think she is trying to make up for the joke by baking those special treats.

Funny, we have the same problem here. Mom hasn't been feeling too good with her allergies and our treat jar ran dry last night. Today she's coming up with some interesting substitutes. Some are really good, others are just strange. e hope she feels better tomorrow and goes to the store.

SHE hasn't baked us treats for a long time. That recipe looks fantastic, maybe we can get HER to make something.

SHE's tried that kibble trick with us too. We only go along because it's food, but we aren't tricked either.

A couple of us love food enough that even kibble is an OK treat for us - that would be TD and Lightning.

We can smell those yummy treats all the way here. Mom said she might try them for an Easter treat for us. Thanks for sharing.

LOL! That sweet face looking at you like you're kidding! Oh, the only thing that could have made it better was if you had got the white eye with that! And, Rory begs me, 'Please Mum, can we trrry and make them?!"

I must admit homemade treats do kind of look good. I don't know what I would do if mine ever went empty, it makes me dizzy to think about it. I didn't even know it could happen OMD. Kibble for a treat?????? Are you kidding me?? I hope this won't leave any lasting scars on any of you. I bet the homemade treats are yummy.

I've tried the old switcheroo using dog food when I have run out of treats. Maggie just looks at me like she's saying, "Really? That's the best you can do?"

Well - we goldens will eat ANYthing, so kibble would def. do it, but we'd certainly go mad over those deelish looking homemade cookies! Drooling as we look at the pitchurs!

That was a near thing. Empty treat jar is unacceptable. What's with trying to use kibble for cookies? As if!
