A SCOTTIE FAMILY NEEDS YOUR HELP TONIGHT

***the pictures from this story are so graphic,
they will not be included***

It has come to my attention that a

Scottish Terrier named Chief,

who belonged to Patrick Koval of Bulrington, Iowa,

was violated in his own,

fenced-in yard on the night of November 23rd.

On November 29th,

Chief died of injuries from this horrible event.

Not only was a person or persons

allowed to trespass on Patrick’s property,

they also destroyed one of his dearest friends,

his loving dog, Chief.

Patrick is offering a reward of $1000.00

for information leading to

arrest and conviction of this person/persons.

There are 14,820 cases in the animal abuse database. A large percentage of these are people who intentionally hurt animals because they enjoy hurting things, or because it makes them feel powerful. Many of these people would hurt other people if they could get away with it. They just choose to hurt animals because animals are more helpless than people. Though a good percentage continue to grow their aggression up the ladder! A lot of these people want to have control over others ~ Or they may hurt the animal to control another person. These persons suffer from serious, psychological problems that will probably not go away on their own.

Intentionally hurting animals for any reason is serious.

You can help by sending emails to the following people asking that this criminal act be thoroughly investigated and treated as should be to the fullest extent of the law.

chief of police - lutteneggerd@burlingtoniowa.org
the mayor of Burlington, Iowa - ellb@burlingtoniowa.org
the local TV station - oreilly@foxnews.com
the local papers - news@thehawkeye.com

Thank you for taking a minute out of your day

to help find someone who would injure

one of our breed

or any breed.

You're right. Animal abuse is a serious precursor to violence against people. It's upsetting that someone would hurt a member of ANY breed! Thanks for letting us know!

Lynn as you know I have been working on this all day! I sent e-mails to the Mayor, Chief of Police, O'Reilly and to the newspaper The Hawk Eye hoping they will run my commentary.

Hopefully if this town gets enough attention somebody will step forth and disclose the PERP!!!!!

That's just sick - Mom just read another news story about another little dog that had the same thing happen. I hope they catch those people.

This is so disgusting!! I've read about it on a few other places, so I am glad that the story is going around and prompting people to act. I posted it to my Facebook and Twitter and sent an email. I am also writing my own post on my blog mylifewithscotties.blogspot.com and linking to your blog post too.

These cases NEED to be taken more seriously! Not only because acts of violence against animals are serious, but also because people who harm animals often times go on to harm humans.

Thank you for sharing, as much as this story has absolutely disturbed and haunted me it needs to be out there.

My thoughts and sympathies go out to Chief's human. I am definitely giving my 2 a few extra squeezes and kisses (much to their dismay!!).

This breaks my heart!!!! I don't know why some people do what they do, especially to animals or other humans that can't defend themselves.

In the town where my sister lives, dogs left in cars for even a minute were being stolen and sold for animal research. The thieves get at the most $50 per animal. Disgusting!!

I'll for sure email those agencies. Thanks for letting us know.

Glad to see Scottish Terrier News directed people to your site with the story of Chief. The Hawk Eye did run the story today and said social networking sites from Iowa east then to Canada are talking about Chief.

It looks like the paper is supposed to run a follow up today. Keep us posted (my browser spam protection wouldn't let me go to the paper's web site).

I am so glad the vet offered to do a full autopsy on the little guy. I sure hope they get to the bottom on things. What an awful thing to go through for everybody.

I sent a note and also followed up with the reported that this has connected a large dog community to get something done. That we won't forget.
