WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE?

Mom is always on the lookout
for toys that stimulate us
and that she doesn't have to
supervise all the time.

An adult Scottie
has a mouth
that is about the same size
as that of
an adult German Shepherd
so little chew toys
end up being chewed and swallowed.
That is what we wish to avoid.

Each of us have our favorite
forms of entertainment.

We, boys, like to play with a large tug rope.
Sometimes we play nicely together,
but then there are other times
that one of us will be guarding the rope
or playing keep-away.

Lilly is the most aloof dog
at our house -
she thinks she is too good
for toys or the floor.
You will find her either
sitting on someone's lap,
on a chair,
on Dad's briefcase
or

in a box.

Even though Nylabones
have gotten a bad rap lately,
we still have them.
Mom and Dad buy the largest one
they can find
and when it gets
whittled down to our mouth size,
it disappears.
The one in the picture
is about ready to go.
They don't want to take the chance
of one of us swallowing it.

We never get rawhide bones,
pigs ears or bully sticks.
We know we would love them,
but with the competition
going on between four dogs,
our Peeps are afraid
of us swallowing one
and having to go see our Vet.

Carrleigh's favorite toy
is the laser light.
She would chase it all day long
and is always encouraging Dad
to get it down for a rousing game of chase.

Carrleigh and Ruairi
love to chase the sunlight.
When Mom is cooking dinner,
the evening sun
comes in our kitchen windows
and glints off her knife -
that gets them into a rousing game
and sometimes gets them banned
from the kitchen - hehe!

But as diverse as we are
with our toys,
we all agree that there is one thing
we absolute detest.

We don't know why Mom insist
on vacuuming up our lovely hairs
off the floor and furniture,
but we all hate to see that
vacuum cleaner come out -
it even has bite marks on it.

What's your favorite toy -
maybe you can give us some pointers
on some tough stuff
that we won't destroy within minutes.

XOXO
Lilly, Piper, Carrleigh and Ruairi

My boys are all afraid of the vacuum cleaner and will hide. None of the girls are afraid and Morgan will attack it.

We're with Lily--maybe it's a black scottie thing. We don't play with toys. Sometimes we'll play if SHE holds the toy and we can tug at it. Stuffies have all ended up buried. Kendra loves a ball. K always wants to play at dinner time....because she is so excited at the thought of food.

We love those pyjamas, too. SHE has several pairs like them.

We don't have a laser light - maybe we need to test one of those out. Might keep the Pest busy for a while. We like hard bones from the pet store, not the stuffed ones, just plain bone. We don't get bully sticks or rawhide either. If we get a real bone, we have to have it in our crates - too many possibilities for friction. Wubbas, cuzes, and kongs do pretty well here and some stuffies:)

Love those pjs:)

Morgan loves playing with Kongs and Kong Wubbas and, well, she has the mouth of a German Shepherd! She also enjoys the Planet Dog balls and we've learned that she can destroy a tennis ball in less than an hour and stuffies in even less time than that. Toys made of leather have been suggested for her and Mom and Dad are looking into some of those.

Hi guys, love your post today. If it's ok I'd like to share a little about my biddy's favorite toys. #1 was a red ball with a bell in it. #2 a collection all her own of match box cars. (She never chewed them just chased them with lots of love. :))) #3 a green rubber caterpillar, she never really played with but carried around like her own puppy, she would cry if any one even bumped it & it squeaked. She brought it to bed at night. Thanks for lettin' me share. Love you guys!

p.s. Love your jammies Lynn, I have the same one's!

Great post!! I'm not sure what Holly's favorite toy is these days. I just looked around the room to see what she has gotten out of the tox box and right now it's a penquin and a raccoon. The stuffed Sibe is sitting on the couch on it's nose which probably means she's been shaking it! Love your jammies..they are really cool looking!! Lots of love, Debbie and Holly

How about if I tell ya about some of the Kyjen stuff once it arrives? Have ya checked their website? They are known for indestructible toys. I'm not too rough on stuff. And Fergi could care less. But there may be something in that pile.

By the way. This is Jake. Fergi's brother. Remember us? It's been forever!

Hope your January is going well. Ours has been ... well ... remarkable.

I like the toy that mom stuffs with kibble and I have to roll it around to get the treats. When it is empty I throw it at her feet....HELLOOOOO, fill it up!!

You are wearing the pawesomest pjs! When and if we have some extra $$$ (not often - and usually birthdays or xmas), I love Nina Ottison's toys and so do the doggehs! They love her stuff. We have two: the Brick and Doggie Dominoes. Happy Weekend!

Check our our post on Lamb-y...that toy is the best...I can't put a hole in it no matter how hard I try...I carry that thing around and pull and poke at it and play tug a war with him and nothing not a stitch has been popped. We got it at Orvis...it wasn't cheap but she says that it's ok cause we probably spent more money on toys that rip over the years. Have fun!!!

Oh, boy - do we ever hear you on this topic! Not much that's tough enough to a Frenchie mouth either. We have a few toys from "Tuff Stuff" (they are edged with the same material fire hoses are made from", those seem to last the longest. And it doesn't last long, but there's nothing more fun than an empty water bottle (with lid & label removed, of course!).

Maggie has quite a few toys but her latest favorite is a little stuffed hedgehog. She's pretty good with her toys, doesn't chew them up. If big brother Duhgall comes over we have to put them all away as he's a chewer. I give Maggie rawhide bones periodically just because it's fun to watch her. She get's so excited, then walks around the back yard with it in her mouth and crying till she finds the perfect spot to bury it. Never eats them!

I have those same pajamas. In fact, I have lots of Scottie pajamas. My friend and I usually get a new pair every February for retreat! This year I have a new scottie bathrobe courtesy of Kohls. I have one new pair of pajamas put away and have I told hubs if I die to bury me in them. That way people will recognise me! LOL!!!I know, wierd, but you gotta make life (and death) fun!

First things first: where'd you get those jammies??? Grrrrreat!

Toys. Hum. You know I love my cow toe, but She has to make sure I'm not eating "the little pieces" that I break off. Supervision required when they're new.

Rope tugs. Yep. That would be my vote.

Our group have been enjoying their new toys called Wubbas. They're covered with a heavy webbing material and then have 'tails' for the gang to pull and try to take away. They also have a squeaker inside--longest one of those has ever lasted so far. I like your mam's PJs myself.

I'm about to get my mom person to do a post about 2 really good, really tough toys that I adore. We'll make sure to let you know when it is up.

Just about anything Kong is a hit on our list. Baby's 3 year old Wubba bit the dust last week. We still have 3 intact Wubbas. Those things are nearly indistructable. We lurvvvve stuffies, but they are destroyed very quickly.

The toys we prefer are baby toys, they are very good to chew and our Mom always finds new ones for us (she buys them second hand at opportunity shops).

Bug does not like the vacuum either. She makes it impossible to do a good job and since she has been a part of this family it does not get used as much. She even chewed a vacuum cord right in half, thankfully it was unplugged at the time, and hubs had to repair it.
