We are three gorgeous (and loved) Scottish Terriers who share our lives with our people and our "Heinz 57" on a farm in the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia. Please join us in our day to day experiences.
Our Mom says "Life is so much merrier with a Scottish Terrier".
For a long time we thought SPAM was the "undisputed king of mystery meat" We had seen it at the grocery store
but had never known it could be served as an hors d'oeuvre.
Our human sissy, Kat, who checks out Roadside America for funky places to visit has even been to the SPAM Museum in Minnesota.
But the SPAM we've been receiving is not edible.
We don't want to go this far, but we have upped the security on our blog. Have you had any problems with SPAM and what did you do to stop it? We'd love to know.
Non-edible Spam I've had a plenty over my time blogging hence being on my 3rd blog & having Comment Moderation! The latter works, as you can filter & most Spammers know they will never go public on your blog so give up & move to an easier target.
My ISP offers a $1 a month service to knock out most Spam, we buy it and it works. Once in a while something sneaks in, but not very often. Well worth the buck a month!
You get a little daily digest of what got removed so in case its a friend in there you can rescue him or her.
Check with your Internet Service Provider and see if they have such a thing in your area.
Just got our first two so-called "Anonymous" comments on blog and I have to do the same. And the google email is a joke. I'm constantly putting garbage (and potentially dangerous) mail into the spam account. But BTW, you did a pawesome job of this post!!! Have a good remainder of the weekend and sorry you've had this yucky issue to contend with. Hugs xo Sammie
I do the same as Khyra, but also build in a 'later than 14 day moderation" setting. I find that most of our "anonymous" spam is put onto blogposts over 14days old. It is really a yukky thing - and if only those spammers would realise that we would never, ever consider any of their products!! They are wasting their time! Thanks for the pertinent post. SPAM!! my dad loves it and yes, they both have been to the spam musuem. They thought it was cool. They came home with a book about Spam, several kinds of spam, 4 spam shirts, a spam cookbook, a spam snowglobe, spam stickers. They saw the spam puppetshow, and the parking spots are marked SPAM and there is a spam restaurant. They missed the spam singers though LOL You can see all the spam cans from around the world and how it fed guys in the war. They really had fun and my dad gets Spam EVERY Fathers day for sure.
Wooos Scotties! Sorry about the Spam thingy, Mom does what Khyra's Mom does, but also I have comment moderation after 48hours, that is when I usually get the crap, we just delete the comment if it happens. -Kira The BeaWootiful
Ohhhhhh nooooooo.... so sad for bad spam thingy..... Spam is horrible..luckily we not to get it in comments!!! And we used the moderation comments form!!!! Try it!!!! Are you all ok??? We love you!!!! Tons of love and kisses
We have had a couple of spam comments on our blog recently but just delete them too. If it got really bad, we would probably go to comment moderations, but we really don't want to do that.
Mom says SPAM is a four-letter word. No matter what form or format. We aren't allowed to have it in our house. Should I be said? Puppy Kisses, Sadie Lou
We just recently started getting it too! I think we are going to take Khyra's approach and just delete what doesn't belong for now...unless it gets real bad...
Spam, now there's something that'll just drive Her crazy! I haven't received that much on my blog (The Scottie Chronicles), but She gets SO MUCH in Her e-mail inbox that She wants to throw the computer out of the window! So, a technician is coming by to switch Her to some other kind of e-mail thingy (through g-mail and google??) next month. I'll ask Her to keep you posted.

Check us out!! We had a foot of snow the 1st of March. We liked it and did Piper ever get covered with little snowballs. His skirt is the longest!! Imagine that. I don't know why we girls couldn't have longer furnishings.

I changed to a Mac and lost most of the problems. No pop ups and very little SPAM.

We've been getting spam in our comments lately too, guys and we honestly haven't been doing a thing, just ignoring it. It's been harmless so far!
Love ya lots,

No, we've been relatively lucky with our blog and have received very little spam. Can't say the same for our facebook page though!
take care

Woos, the OP Pack
We never tasted that stuff. Mom said a good email, firewall, securuty program will do the job.

Spam, spam, spam and eggs! Oh, erm. Mom uses comment moderation and no-stick spray.

my daughter saw some Spam in the grocery store and thought it was a clever gimick--it is so strange that she thought the computer term came first!!!!!

I do what Khyra does just delete it. Kit changed her comments to after owners approval. That worked for her.
Good luck, Fern
