IT'S SIR WOODSTOCK'S BEAR-DAY

There's a whole lot of partying
going on over at
SIR WOODSTOCK'S BLOG
.

Today's his BEAR-DAY.
And the preferred attire is a fancy hat.

His Mother has fixed the most
beautiful libations,

The most scrumptious entrees

And desserts that would rival
the Celebrations Pastry Shop.

And of course,
Piper insisted on being different.
He has no intentions
of ever wearing a formal hat.
He says he's a 'swashbuckler'
and we should have named him Rory.
He get's the most spectacular ideas
in that cute little head.

And would someone please catch Mom
before she em-bear-ses herself?
Obviously she picked up the
wrong hat on the way out the door.

Happy Bear-day Woodstock
and many, many more.

XOXO

THE NOSE KNOWS - WE HAVE A WINNER

We have to admit,
this was a very easy contest,
and Lilly and Java were
as Brutus so bluntly put it, "gimme
es"
But Carrleigh and Piper,
on the other hand caused some confusion.

A lot of you thought that
Carrleigh's nose was number 3 -
and that Piper was number 1-

and then some of you thought
just the opposite.

We have to say the opposites have it.
That cute little shiny black nose
belongs to Piper -
Carrleigh has a snow nose
that lightens up as the days get shorter.

The names that went into the pot were
:

The Portuguese Water Dogs
Sasha
Maggie and Mitch
Brutus
Scampering Scotties
Sally and Paddy

Angus
Blue
Mango
Tank
Jake and Fergi
Duhgall and Fiona

The prize will be going out at the beginning of next week.

Oh! Yes, we guess you'd like to know the winner.

And the winner is:
ANGUS -
We love reading the escapades

of
Wilf and Digby

Polish Lowland Sheep Dogs.
They have just moved to France
and are experiencing a slight mouse problem.
Their saga continues
and always gives us a chuckle
or some food for thought.

CONGRATS!!

YOU'RE A BLESSING

We have just received this special award
from our friends,
Jake and Fergi
and their Moma and Ninagirl
at
Two Special Wires.

We got to know
them when we all
started blogging at
about the same time.

We look daily for their updates
and adventures.
The love pours forth from them
and their family

to our community.

One day we will meet them.
We promise.

And now we are to pass this on

to 10 blogs that bless us.
Wow! That's an impossible task
because at last count,
there were 103 blogs that bless us.
Please know that our daily visits with
all of you are very important to us.

And now we pass this on to:

Penny, Poppy & Patches at Airedale Heaven
Clive and Murray
Mollie Jo, Bobo and Jackson
Dory and Bilbo
Tammy
Ginger Jasper and Carol

Khyra and Merdie

Please pass this on to your friends.

And while you are here,
don't forget about our contest.
It ends on Thanksgiving Day at noon.
All of the correct responders
(according to the numbers)
will be placed in a drawing.
And the winner will
get a prize.
It will be announced on Friday.
We're off to clean the stove and
make pecan tarts.
Somehow we think we should be doing it
the other way around.

IT'S GETTING TO BE THAT TIME and A NOSEY CONTEST

What time is that, you ask
TURKEY TIME
They are even coming to our yard,
tempting us,
making us bark.

But Mom says NOOOOO-
we can't chase them -
You'd think she was a vegetarian-
and she could be
if vegetarians were allowed to have
a hamburger once in a while.
(plus she's afraid of birds - silly Mom)

We're the only turkeys in our house.

And to celebrate that,
we're hosting a contest.
It's an easy one and will be going
until Thanksgiving day.

Just guess whose nose is whose
and post a comment
(according to the numbers in the collage).
All of the correct responders
will be in a drawing
for a prize.
Please pass the word to your friends
that we have a contest going.

HAVE YOU EVER RECEIVED SPAM?

For a long time we thought SPAM was the
"undisputed king of mystery meat"
We had seen it at the grocery store

but had never known it could be
served as an
hors d'oeuvre
.

Our human sissy, Kat,
who checks out Roadside America
for funky places to visit has even
been to the SPAM Museum in Minnesota.

But the SPAM we've been receiving
is not edible.
We don't want to go this far,
but we have upped the security on our blog.
Have you had any problems with SPAM
and what did you do to stop it?
We'd love to know.

WHEN IT'S SPRINGTIME IN THE ROCKIES....

Or at least it feels,
sounds and looks like Spring
at

Rocky Creek Farm

A project waiting from last Spring
that never got finished.
But our silly Mom just loves rust
and the colors of peeling paint on the other chair.

Java came out to snoopervise Mom

As she hung the laundry
out on the line.

And we played in our outside pen
and barked at Mom and Java
and anything else that moved.

And the little Mom
rested in a crate.
She's having a bit of trouble
getting into her favorite chair
and doesn't want to be lifted.

IT'S TRUE COLOURS THURSDAY - LAPIS LAZULI AND HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO GJ

Good Morning,

And welcome to True Colours Thursday. Miss Blue is our host and the color for today is Lapis Lazuli or bright blue. If you wish to participate, please go by her post and let her know and then you're in - it's that easy.

The first thing we want to do today
is use this bright blue balloon
to wish a big
HAPPY BIRTHDAY
to one of our great friends,
Ginger Jasper.
Please go by and visit him
if you get a chance.

Mom has been a fan of
Sandra Spencer's art work for many years.
She uses a lot of bright blue
in her animal paintings.

This is the time of year
when we start searching
for Christmas c
ards.
Our Mom loves vintage cards
and tries to incorporate their images
into her letters and labels.
This little Scottie at the mailbox
is one of her favorites
for return address labels.
It's a little pale to be called
Lapis Lazuli
but it's cute so we included it.

And look at this Scottie
with the wonderful Snowman
on the Lapis Lazuli background.

We're sure these vintage tags
will show up on several packages.

And one of our favorite winter sounds
is that of sleighbells.

But for today,
this is what we'll see
because it continues to rain.

HAVE YOU SEEN THE STORK HEADING TOWARD VIRGINIA?

Our Lillygirl had a visit with the V-E-T today.
He told Mom to start watching for storks
to visit Rocky Creek Farm.
He predicts they will arrive
to drop their little bundles
about December 12th.

He said that Lilly is extremely healthy
but please send pawsitive thoughts our way and
keep your paws crossed
that all goes well.

WE HAD SPECIAL VISITORS

We had so much fun on Saturday
because one of our babies
came to visit.

Our youngest boy, Obie
(who is the puppy pictured above)
is growing up to be
a handsome young man.
He will be one year old
on December 1st.

He brought his galpal Ebony
to visit with us.
They came to visit and play
and so that Mom could teach
their peeps about Scottie grooming.
Doesn't Ebony have a
pleasing Scottie profile?
She and Mom are true soul-mates
and Mom would adopt her
in a heartbeat.

Here we are trying to get a family photo
Ebony, Obie, Lilly and Piper.

And our sweet
Ebony and Obie.

Lilly showed them both
how to find the best worm-holes
to roll on
to get that "Scottie Perfume"

And she took her youngest son, Obie
off to the side to make sure
he got one on one time with his Mom.
By the time they left,
Both Obie and Ebony
had it down pat.

Obie and Ebony's Dad, Jose
tried to get them to do a Scottie Stand.
As you can see,
Lilly and Obie
are in the front of the class.
Piper didn't step up
because he is such an expert in it
that he would put the others to shame.

Too soon
that sad time arrived
and they had to leave.
We miss them so much.

They are always in our hearts
and we love them.

XOXO
Lilly, Piper, Carrleigh and Java
