Our Mom says "Life is so much merrier with a Scottish Terrier".
For Christmas 2007, Mom found out that she would be getting a Scottie puppy.
2 days after Christmas, she received an email that the puppies had been born.
The puppy on the left is Piper.
He grew fast and became a sturdy little guy. Here he is at about 4 weeks old.
Before long, Mom and Dad and Lilly went to Ohio to get him and he moved to Rocky Creek Farm.
And he was quite the rascal.
Always finding something to get into. And soon he learned that some things were better left alone.
He started maturing into a beautiful dog.
And by his first birthday, he was a father.
And now he is a beautiful self assured young man. And we love him.
Happy Birthday Dear Piper.
XOXO Lilly, Carrleigh, Java, Mom and Dad
PS - we are sorry that we haven't been commenting on your blogs. We have been reading quickly when we get a minute. Things will get back to normal soon.
Since we live in a drafty, old house, we were concerned that Java was getting too cold at night.
You might recall that a few weeks ago, we were searching for a viable option for getting a sweater for our sweet Java. You all jumped it and gave us some great advice.
And we did and they had the perfect blanket/coat for our big man. He measures 36 inches from the base of his neck to the base of his tail so nothing we found in regular stores fit him. Now that Mom has seen this, she knows that she could have easily made one, but he is content to wear it and we are happy to help him feel warmer.
First we want to thank our little Scottie furiend,
Snazzi Jazzi, for coming up with the idea and hosting a gift exchange for blogging doggies.
By having this exchange, we got to meet and make new furiends. The Richardson Zoo from Tennessee (not too far away from us) got our name.
And did they ever send wonderful pressies.
This is how it started out -
Piper and Mom and been on a walk and were coming back to the house when Piper (the ever observant one) noticed there was a package on our porch. Our Mom had ordered some Christmas gifts so she was sure the package was for her. Upon closer investigation we found that Mom was WRONG!! (well partly wrong) The package was addressed to The Rocky Creek Scotties and Java.
We could just smell the love and the wonderful treats before we could get Mom to get the tape off. Once we opened it we found 2 large bags of treats 2 sets of tennis ball tug of war toys a squeaky reindeer (of course Piper claimed that one first off) a Christmas tug of war toyand a Scottie glass full of one of Mom's favorite candies. And she's claimed that for herself and has it sitting on the shelf in the kitchen. We so appreciate the generosity and we know you'd love to visit the Richardsons - they are even posting a Christmas furiend of the day and Snazzi and Piper have already been featured. We had more pictures of us opening our pressies, but Blogger is being obstinate about uploading pictures today.
Guess what happened yesterday?? Well if you live anywhere in the United States, you probably know that most of the Eastern states were hammered with a big storm.
Ours came down in the form of snow. About 12 inches of it. And it came down fast.
How about a snownut?
We were so glad that we had our raincoats to cut down on the collection of snowballs.
But it is so deep that when we step off of our front porch that we just sink up over our heads.
We're fortunate that we have an open carport that has very little snow collected in it.
Mom decided that if it was going to snow she wanted to play Monopoly so she went out yesterday and got us a new Monopoly game- it sure makes those grownups laugh a lot! We're so glad our sissy is here - she gives us lots of treats and snuggs. We wish she'd stay with us.
to the Vet because she should have had her puppies by now.
Although she had all the signs, Lilly had a false pregnancy, which is very common in dogs. And there are no puppies.
We are realistic and know that there is a plan greater than ours.
Mom is happy that Lilly is healthy and looks fabulous, but she was looking forward to sweet puppy breath. So, tonight, we are off of "puppy watch" and can get a good night's sleep.
Several of you have asked where to get the coats. We got them from an Ebay store, and very inexpensive too. If you are interested, email us at rockycreekscotties at yahoo dot com and Mom will email the info to you.
We know that the First Day of Christmas is traditionally Boxing Day or December 26th.
But since we got to have one of our Christmas pressies today, We decided that today is our First Day of Christmas. Last night the temperature stayed around 32 degrees F and it rained all night. This morning our driveway was slick and muddy, so we got to try out one of our Christmas pressies.
Mom and Dad had got us raincoats! Piper got to be the guinea pig and try one on first - he did OK until Mom snapped the hood on it.
Carrleigh's raincoat is orange and she likes it because it makes her look thin.
When Lilly saw there was a red one, of course it had to be hers- that is after a 10 minute tussle to get it on her!
And Piper got the manly forest green one.
Even without the hood, they kept us so much drier and less muddier that going out 'naked'.
And here they are hanging up to dry. Mom wonders why we waited so long to get them.
Good news- Our sissy, Kat, is arriving at the airport tonight. Dad has gone to pick her up and we are helping Mom make potroast and rolls for dindin. We are so excited - she will be here for 2 1/2 weeks!!
Mom gets these visions (no, not sugarplums) in her head about the perfect picture.
She often wonders how many of you do it - your pictures are so perfect and you actually embody the holiday spirit.
Mom is neither a dog trainer or a photographer; she might as well get that in her curly little head.
She has dreams of Java wearing a Santa Hat and the rest of us sitting quietly about as he reads us a story. Or Java with his reindeer antlers on pulling a sleigh that we are sitting on wearing our little holiday scarves and hats. Or a picture of the stairs with all of us sticking our heads out.
How do people get these photos? They must have 2 people per dog, plus a tripod.
Well Mom needs to start with the tripod and then we'll see about the visitors. First, Piper would have to "own" the tripod, Lilly would have to sit on the lap of every visitor, Carrleigh would run under the bed and Java would lick everyone.
Well Mom tries and here are her failures:Can't get all of me in the lens, can you?
I might try to look cute, but are you on my level?
Did I drop part of that treat?
I'm not looking at you.
Did you say you wanted a picture of my nose?
Come on Mom, get this over with. I'm too stylish and classy to wear this Santa Hat.

Scots swimming in the snow
Check us out!! We had a foot of snow the 1st of March. We liked it and did Piper ever get covered with little snowballs. His skirt is the longest!! Imagine that. I don't know why we girls couldn't have longer furnishings.
