OUR GRANNY CAUGHT A RABBIT

Most of you have met our sweet Granny,
at least virtually, that is.
She just celebrated her 86th birthday
and she just loves us!!

But last evening
when she was taking her trash
to the curb,
she saw some weeds
and a brown spot on the bank
by her house.

Upon further investigation,
she found a little nest
with two baby rabbits in it.
She reached down and picked one up
and when it squealed,
she gently placed it back in the nest.

While she was there,
she saw a few weeds that needed to be pulled
and when she started to pull them
she lost her balance and fell backwards.

Our Aunt Mary called our Mom
and when she started the conversation with
"Your Mother",
our Mom knew something was wrong,
so she and Dad jumped in the car
and went to their house.

Granny had a scarf tied around her neck
and her arm was through it
like a sling.

Mom and Dad
took her to the Emergency Room
at the local hospital
and
after several examinations
and an xray,
they determined that she had broken
both bones in her right wrist.

On Wednesday,
she will be having surgery
to have a fixator
put on her wrist.

We don't know,
but this might change our blogging abilities
as we attend to her needs.
Right now we are
"playing it by ear"
to see what must be done.

Have a great day.

XOXO
Lilly, Piper, Carrleigh and Ruairi

(Rabbit and fixator pictures are not our actual pictures.
We snagged them from Google images)

  5. While I'm a little younger than your Gran, I had to have a fixinator thingy put in my wrist about 10 days ago. It was very painful for about 24 hours, like any surgery, but after that, SO much better -- less pain, more mobility. Will send "healing thoughts" your way.

Hope YOUR mother recovers soon ;-)

  12. Oh dear. We are so glad your mom and dad were close by to quickly go help your granny. Family is most important right now. You take care of your people while they take care of your extended people. And know we'll be hoping the surgery and recovery go really easily, quickly and well. We'd like to imagine another picture of your lovely granny with a sweet smile like the one in her portrait, when this is all over with. Or even nearly over with.

We'll keep you all in our thoughts and prayers.

  16. Who knew bunnies could be so dangerous--they looked so cute. That metal thing looks horrible. Will Granny have to wear 'the cone' so she doesn't lick it?

We hope she recovers VERY quickly and we'll be praying for her.

  41. We're hoping your granny is doing better and better, and that maybe Piper has even been able to go and give some good pet therapy to her. We think about her a lot and are really glad she liked the card. Tell her she does NOT need to write back. No need. At all. Please. Just tell her to GET BETTER FAST so she can deliver lots of good scritchies and scratchies to you all.
