COOL MEMORIES
We are copying Sue
at The Portuguese Water Blog.
She posted a Winter picture
to help us all cool down.
We remembered that we had some
good Winter pictures that didn't get posted
because we were so busy last Winter
entertaining you with our puppy pictures.
Right after Mom read The Porties blog to us,
she went outside and was pleased to see
10 turkey poults, or as people who live here say,
"widdies" crossing our yard.
She then recollected how she fed the turkeys
when the snow was so deep in the Winter.

Many times,
if we get up at night,
we look out the window
and see our solar lights
sparkling around our yard.

Now that it's Summer,
there is a large fan in this window -
Mom was afraid these "witches fingers"
were going to break the window last Winter.

Many of you know that we've just finished
with the haying on our farm -
when we have a cold Winter,
we have to feed at least 2 of
these huge bales a day.

And the rabbits -
Mom fed them last Winter
and now that it's Summer,
she chases them away -
those little buggers can eat a rose bush
before you can "turn around twice".

Now the lightning bugs (fireflies)
have replaced the snow crystals
as we look across the fields at night.
Many nights, we try to catch them.

PIPER'S VACATION
This morning after Mom got home from church,
she was scurrying around -
getting a bag of food ready to go

She gave Piper his heartworm pill
and put his Frontline on him -
What's she thinking -
it's not the first of the month yet.
She even put a bag of treats for him
in a Ziploc bag.

FINLAY - LOOKING ALL GROWN UP
If you've been following our blog
since pre-puppy days,
you might remember how bad
Stella wanted a puppy.
She didn't get to get a puppy,
but the name she suggested
was one of the finalist
in our 'name-game' contest.
She named one of our little male puppies -
Finlay.

her little peanut butter puppies
because of their distinct color.
Finlay now has his big boy name -
Rushlow's Murphy Rousseau
and like our little Finleigh Mcbee -
he has

she's a Bedlington Terrier.
Aren't they both "head-turners"?
We want to thank their peeps,
Debi and Dave,
for sending us these lovely photographs.

PUPDATE - MISS FINLEIGH MCBEE OF SIGNEY'S COTTAGE
There comes a day in every
Scottie puppy's life
when its peeps know that it's time -
time for that first grooming -
and they change from a puppy
to a dog,
or in Finleigh's case -
a young lady.
Today was the day for her.
Most of you remember
our little Snazzi Jazzi -
now she not only has a "big dog name"
but a "big dog haircut".

ROCKY CREEK BLUEBERRY PANCAKES
This morning when Mom was walking us,
we noticed there were a lot of ripe blueberries
on our blueberry bushes.
When we got home,
Mom asked Dad if he would like
blueberry pancakes for breakfast.
Of course he said he would,
so she sent him to pick the berries
while we stayed in the house
and made the pancake batter.

Our dognanny, Mrs. Donna,
had recently returned from a visit in New York
and had brought us back some
wonderful NY maple syrup.

MOM LOSES HER FLOWERS

time for the hay to go down.
And is it ever ripe and thick.
While the hay is getting mowed,
the pastures get clipped too
and Mom looses one of the few
summer flowers she can grow.

that she can grow tiger lilies -
they come up every year -
just like clockwork.
Her grandmother planted them
She's afraid if she messed with them,
they might all die -
can you imagine how many bulbs
must be under there now??

Japanese Fan Bush
in our yard.
it blooms from Spring to Fall
and is very fragrant and full of bees!
You can see the different colors
of the blooms as they progress
if you biggify the picture.

THE JOYS OF TOYS

he loved to carry around a rope toy.
Truthfully, it is still his favorite and
if he gets aggravated about something,
he will grab up his rope and give it a good shake.

AN AWARD FROM HOLLY

1. What would your perfect day consist of?
Both of my children and my husband would be here. And of course the Scotties. I would cook for everyone and we would just sit around and talk with each other.
2. How would you describe yourself if you were an item of clothing?
Comfortable, soft and faded - blue jeans or a sweater.
3. What hobbies are you currently working on?
Absolutely nothing at the moment! But my husband and I just finished a broom making class - and I have just received some broom corn seeds in the mail -we'll see how they grow! I have dabbled in many hobbies over the years and need to get busy using up some of the supplies I have collected.
4. Walking in the woods in wellies or bare foot on the beach?
Walking in the woods.
5. Have you ever hugged or sang to a tree?
Definitely
6. Growing your own veggies or nipping to the supermarket?
I would love to grow the veggies but I have a very brown thumb.
7. Have you found anyone exciting in your family tree?
Everyone in my family tree is exciting to me - there are a lot of heroes there.
8. Slap up meal in a posh restaurant or fish ‘n’ chips from the wrapper?
Fish and chips. It depends on where I am at at the time - I love to be waited on in a nice restaurant.
9. Which element do you most resonate with, Earth, Air, Fire or Water?
Fire.
If you haven't done this, please feel free to take it and pass it on.
XOXO
Lilly, Piper, Carrleigh and Ruairi
