AHHH! - SWEET PUPPY BREATH

Sophie

Many of you have made the comment
that you love the aroma of puppy breath.
If one could bottle that scent,
they would make millions.

But some Scotties have another aroma
that is on the same level with
sweet puppy breath.
They have a scent
on the top of their head
between their ears,
that is known as
"The Heather Scent".

Mom and Dad had smelled it
on Carrleigh and on Lilly's puppies,
but just thought it was something
they had rubbed against.

But when Mom and Dad first joined
The Scottish Terrier Club of Western Virgina,
one of the founding members
asked if any of their Scotties
had the heather scent.

All at once they knew where this delightful
aroma came from.
They all don't have it
and if they do it's not all the time,
but newborn Scotties seem to exude it.
Carrleigh has it fairly strongly
and occasionally you can smell it on Lilly,
but never on Piper.

If you have a Scottie,
rub it's head and take a whiff.
You might get rewarded
with this sweet aroma.

XOXO

  1. That is totally cool. I mean puppy breath comes from what they are eating and immature digestions, but scottie scent? Wonder where that comes from.

  3. Oh boy....now you got Mama going. Something about missing puppy breath in the house....I think it is only a matter of time now before I get a baby sister.

*sigh* I guess that if they are as cute as Carrleigh's babies.

Radley is just over a year old and smells very faintly of wee! Don't think he ever smelled of heather, how lucky to have sweet smelling puppies :-)

  6. Oh wow, that sounds heavenly. Wish the Frenchies smelled that way. You scratch Betty and the only smell you get in return is rotten eggs... We still love her though!

  9. That's so neat! We know one scottie (he's in our agility class), so I'll have to ask if we can do a sniff test next week! Mom says my feet smell like Fritos, but other than that I'm just stinky like any bulldog!

  11. Most of the time McBeth just smells like the red Georgia clay he digs in every day...that or the shampoo we have to use to get it all off of him!

  16. So adorable.

Petey's head smells exactly like Fritos corn chips. Maybe Cairn terriers are secretly Frito Banditos?

How's wee Hamish? Is he half as cute as sweet Sophie?

  18. Thunder and Phantom would like to take the puppy breath along with the puppy and ship her out tonight - they both are exhausted and want to go to bed but the Energizer Pup is still raring to go.

That is so cool about the heather scent, never heard that before. Smoochies to the pups.

  20. That is such a sweetie pie picture! We sure didn't know that about the Heather scent. We don't have any Scotties close around, so could you install scrach-n-sniff for us?

  22. Lynn, I wonder how many pups in blog land you are going to inspire!!! I'll bet quite a few!!!
I'll bet at least a few.
I didn't know that Lilly and Carrleigh were born in Paducah. If you want to go to the quilt show go as soon as you can, because the younger you are the better!! It is hard on an older person.
Kiss all the pups for me, Fern
